Lorraine still does well and I think it outperforms GMB as it's more focussed: it's largely watched by women and LK makes no bones about it, referring to her viewers as " us women".

Drama Consolidated Series Averages
Here are the consolidated series averages for BBC One and ITV dramas so far in 2014: Code:
BBC One 1 - 11.83m - Sherlock... (+16%) 2 - 10.54m - Call The Midwife... (+1%) 3 - 8.45m - Death In Paradise... (+10%) 4 - 7.38m - Silent Witness... (+2%) 5 - 7.38m - The 7.39... (NEW/+1%) 6 - 7.36m - Jonathan Creek... (-16%) 7 - 7.01m - The Crimson Field*... (NEW/-19%*) 8 - 6.49m - Inspector George Gently... (+6%) 9 - 6.30m - The Musketeers... (NEW/-43%) 10 - 5.71m - Shetland... (-16%) 11 - 5.37m - Silk... (-6%) ITV (inc ITV+1 in brackets) 1 - 6.89m (7.51m) - The Widower... (NEW/+11%) 2 - 6.74m (7.15m) - Undeniable... (NEW/-2%) 3 - 6.56m (7.07m) - DCI Banks... (+23%) 4 - 6.44m (6.82m) - Midsomer Murders... (+6%) 5 - 6.24m (6.78m) - Endeavour... (-4%) 6 - 5.90m (6.35m) - Mr Selfridge... (-21%) 7 - 5.08m (5.51m) - The Bletchley Circle... (-2%) 8 - 4.82m (5.22m) - Law & Order UK*... (-8%) 9 - 1.88m (2.05m) - Edge of Heaven... (NEW/-52%) Notes - * means that the programme is still currently airing or all its ratings are yet to come in and its average will change. - The percentage change in brackets after the programme's name is the ratings rise or fall compared to the previous series - For new programmes, the percentage mentioned after NEW is how the final/latest episode of the series rated compared to the first episode, to give us an idea of how well or badly the series generally held up over the its run. ITV are in need to another returning drama, I have high hopes for Granchester. Let's hope they get it right. |

(NEW/-52%) While people will be saying Prey will be high up on that list, which is true, that will not ever be returning for another series either. At least Happy Valley looks like a big returning series for the Beeb. |

Good year for the BBC Drama Department so far. Most of their returning dramas up year on year. Also BBC One has 7 dramas which are more popular than Itv's most popular drama so far this year! And Itv's 2 most popular dramas have been ones which will never ever return again. Add Happy Valley to the list, along with The Crimson Field and The Musketeers, and that's already 3 new 6.3m+ hit dramas BBC1 has had so far this year which will be returning in 2015.

The Great Fire is 4 episodes, never going to return for another series. Cilla Black biopic is 3 episodes, not going to come back for a second series - looks like a flop anyway. Chasing Shadows is 4 episodes, potentially could return for a second series. Safe House - the drama greenlit this week - is 4 episodes and based on a certain story, unlikely to return for another series. So it looks like while BBC One are pumping out lots of new dramas with returning potential, Itv are more interested in 'mini-series' which dont come back again. |

Don't forget though the first rating for The Musketeers boosted its average massively. When it returns I imagine it will be a midling success for the BBC, around 4.5m. I agree though ITV need more returning dramas. Although quite a few of them haven't aired yet |

Thanks Neil - that gives a 6-9.25am average of 651k, 828k and 768k on those three days. Obviously still a long way behind Breakfast but more of a like for like comparison (assuming they still have a break before 9.25am is Lorraine tape checked to 9.20?)

Besides Grantchester, if doesnt look like Itv has yet commissioned any other new drama series for this year or next year with at least 6 episodes [the Beowulf show hasnt been officially greenlit yet]

So it looks like while BBC One are pumping out lots of new dramas with returning potential, Itv are more interested in 'mini-series' which dont come back again. Perhaps so far they are only being presented with one-offs. This Autumn should see them commission a few more returnable series. But BBC1 do seem to have an absolute wash of new returnable dramas coming through presently. |

Also what are the chances of Law and Order UK coming back for another series? I read a major character got killed off last week, could it now be a good time to end the show on the back of the low ratings it's been getting in that Wednesday night drama death slot [Whitechapel, Love and Marriage, Marchlands II all died there]. |

Given that Vera got a million more viewers than Endeavour in the same slot against the same opposition, do you think Endeavour is in danger of being cancelled?

Law & Order UK will return, again in the right slot it can do well. From rzt figures its only down 8% from when it was in the Sunday slot. |

When was the last time HIGNFY was paired with another new programme. It's probably not that long ago but it seems it. You'd think it'd be quite a good lead in to a new comedy.

Clarkson said in The Sun that one more outburst and he will be sacked by The BBC. Listening to the audio you can't hear him say the word. People defending Clarkson because the word can't be heard I can accept, people saying it's just a word I can't.
He clearly doesn't say the word, but it was silly to recite the rhyme in the first place. The important thing now is to educate the music industry to stop American rappers using the word in their music. That industry is holding the World back now. Every other industry realises it's unacceptable. |

I was reading about his Sun column on the BBC website: like he says, it's only a matter of time before he offends someone and gets sacked.

Clarkson made Top Gear. Older members of the forum will remember when it was a deadly serious motoring show with only 2 million viewers. Certainly features like " Are Japanese cars more reliable than British ones" wouldn't feature now.

Lorraine Kelly is a person that could do well in the daytime slot too.

The thing is though that I used to use this rhyme with completely different words and until this came up had never heard of a version using that word. Maybe I have led a sheltered life or something.
