I've just been reading through the best selling albums by year page on wiki and there are a great mix of good and bad albums on the list and I was interested to see what people thought of the albums on the list.

I started the poll from 1993 as doing a poll from 1956 is a bit much but here is the rest of the list:

1956 Carousel - Original Soundtrack
1957 The King and I - Original Soundtrack
1958 My Fair Lady - Broadway Cast recording
1959 South Pacific - Original Soundtrack
1960 South Pacific - Original Soundtrack
1961 G.I. Blues - Elvis Presley
1962 West Side Story - Original Soundtrack
1963 With The Beatles - The Beatles
1964 Beatles for Sale - The Beatles
1965 The Sound of Music - Original Soundtrack
1966 The Sound of Music - Original Soundtrack
1967 Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
1968 The Sound of Music - Original Soundtrack
1969 Abbey Road - The Beatles
1970 Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon and Garfunkel
1971 Bridge Over Troubled Water - Simon and Garfunkel
1972 20 Dynamic Hits - Various Artists
1973 Don't Shoot Me I'm Only the Piano Player - Elton John
1974 The Singles: 1969–1973 - The Carpenters
1975 The Best of the Stylistics - The Stylistics
1976 Greatest Hits - ABBA
1977 Arrival - ABBA
1978 Saturday Night Fever - Original Soundtrack
1979 Parallel Lines - Blondie
1980 Super Trouper - ABBA
1981 Kings of the Wild Frontier - Adam and the Ants
1982 Love Songs - Barbra Streisand
1983 Thriller - Michael Jackson
1984 Can't Slow Down - Lionel Richie
1985 Brothers in Arms - Dire Straits
1986 True Blue - Madonna
1987 Bad - Michael Jackson
1988 Kylie - Kylie Minogue
1989 Ten Good Reasons - Jason Donovan
1990 ...But Seriously - Phil Collins
1991 Stars - Simply Red
1992 Stars - Simply Red

I can't believe Oasis were beaten by Robson and Jerome in 1995!

Poll coming soon with the list.

Adele and Emeli's albums are the only ones that I've listened to from start to finish tbh. I chose Emeli though.

I picked Jagged Little Pill and OVOE because out of that list they're the only two acts (and albums) that I would class as 'favourites' even out of my own music collection. Absolutely adore both Alanis and Emeli!

Jagged Little Pill my second favourite album of all time I found it in my dads collection when I was about 12 and have loved it ever since. The only other I chose was Back To Black one of the best albums of the 21st centaury Amy truly left something behind for so many to enjoy.

Plus without her no Emeli or Adele who all followed and started their careers in emulation of.

Also my album of 2008 was 19 but of 2011 21 didn't quite cut the mustard.

Oh Lord the only one I've heard in it's entirety is Midnight Memories!
It's actually pretty good lol.

Mostly not my cup of tea, but I did like the Scissor Sisters one, great fun, so voted for that

I recently bought Back To Black after meaning to add it to my collection for some time. It's a fantastic album in my opinion. There is not one dud track.

Jagged Little Pill, Back To Black, Talk On Corners are all essential albums for me, I did like dido at the time but I can't bear those albums anymore. Of the earlier bunch, both Super Trouper and Arrival are 2 of ABBAs best albums alongside Voulez Vous and The Visitors.

I voted for Jagged Little Pill.

It's a pity Be Here Now is the only Oasis album there as Definitely Maybe and What's The Story are much better albums.

The best three albums are Amy Winehouse, Back To Black, Adele 21 and Emeli Sande's album. The best from the 90's was Alanis Morrisette's Jagged Little Pill. I voted for Amy Winehouse as it was the first album to definitively crack both sides of the Atlantic. Others had flitted the States but Back To Black was the first to gain complete critical as well as commercial acclaim. It paved the way for Adele to have her later success.

I own only three of the entire 1953-2013 list!

Jagged Little Pill, Talk On Corners and No Angel.

Talk On Corners is great! Some lovely songs on there; I prefer most of the non-single tracks (Queen of Hollywood, Don't Say You Love Me, No Good For Me, Love Gives Love Takes, Hopelessly Addicted, Little Wing...) to the singles though

Absolutely!! I feel the same with the follow up album In Blue as in the best tracks weren't released as singles. Both fantastic records!!

I own 10 of those listed in the poll - and like all of them, but only voted for 3.

Absolute favourites are Scissor Sisters (Such a fantastic album Their debut, Night Work and Magic Hour are all brilliant albums.) Shania Twain (not a dud track on it!) and Robbies Escapology.

Can't believe Didos albums are over 10 years old It only seems like last year where she was absolutely everywhere. It's artists like her which help you to realise that just because and artist is massive one minute doesn't mean they will be the next. The British public are very fickle.
