Deactivating sim card
Hi. I've received a micro sim for my new phone (same number) and need to deactivate the old sim. Just wondering if deactivating would wipe the data? Or it just blocks connection to the phone service?

The SIM is automatically deactivated as soon as the new one becomes active.
It does not wipe any data. The SIM itself is actually untouched by the process. |

Thanks!
I was still using the old phone while I was transfering some data to the new one. But have since misplaced that phone so haven't been able to make/receive calls and texts. Now I know the data will be safe I'll activate the new sim and hopefully the old phone will turn up. |

Once you've got all your (important) data off the old SIM, cut it into 4 pieces and chuck away.
