I agree.

I've got one and I'm getting well over the advertised 9 hrs these days and the screen is beautiful IMO for what the hudl costs.

Dunno wtf that poster up there ^^ is on about at all.

Apart from what was said about the camera, it's like they're describing a different tablet and besides - who buys a tablet for the camera??

I haven't heard anything yet....it will be interesting to see what improvements/modifications they make on what's essentially a really great little tab

Mine lives in the lounge these days where we hook it up to the tv to watch US Netflix with Unblock-Us.

We've also both got an a/c on it so use it with the Kindle app the rest of the time as I've side-loaded a ton of books on there

There's nothing about the hudl that I don't like.

She says pretty much the same thing on every Hudl related thread, with no solid facts but covering it by calling it 'subjective' instead...

Fairly new Hudl user here. This might seem a simple question, but on the Facebook app how do I change my news feed to most recent first.

Facebook just updated their facebook app.

If you select the little gear icon next to News Feed you can change the settings from Top Stories to Most Recent.

I can't see any little gear icon.

My mum? The only digital cameras that she's got are in her Nokia (old S40 thing, VGA) and her tablet (Archos Titanium). It is a little weird, but she does carry it around with her at times for taking pics, then connects up to wifi at home or at a cafe and emails me the pics .... not bad going for a technophobe getting close to 70

Are you running the latest version of the Facebook App ? I currently using 8.0.0.26.24

Do you see three bars in the top left ?
Select that, it should open a menu with News Feeds as one of the options and to the right of that is a little gear icon.

I stand corrected

I'm very impressed that your mum takes her tablet out-and-about with her - that's so cool

The huge advantage that tabs have over laptops (apart from portability) is the fact that the UI is so simple that people don't feel intimidated by it.

I guess what I was thinking was that most people who have tabs have them as well as smartphones and not necessarily instead of them, if you get my drift?

Seeing as it looks like the second generation Nexus 10 is never going to arrive, it would be interesting to see a 10" Hudl to give Samsung some competition.

Hi,

We bought a Hudl for my middle son for xmas and have been pleased with it and thought it did exactly what the reviews said for a great price (with some club card vouchers it was a bargain).

My other boy is also showing interest in a tablet, and with the few vouchers we currently have he could pick a hudl up for just under £80.

I was wondering if anyone out there knows of a better option for this price point or any reason not to just dive in and go for it?

Thanks!

At that price point I don't there is much anything else much better unless you look at refurbished or second hand.

There is a new Hudl expected September but that could slip and nobody knows prices / performance at the moment.

OP, it sounds like you need a Wireless Access Point rather than a router, which are cheaper. Your best bet is to go onto Amazon and read the reviews for a few, since there are many manufacturers that make cheap but good ones. Make sure whatever you buy supports WPA2 encryption, which is essential these days.

Good choice on the Hudl BTW. As a general use tablet it's great value for money.

Thats what I thought, but I have seen reference to models i have never heard of before in some of these budget tablet discussions. Its such a fast moving market in some respects that I thought I'd throw it out and there and see what responses I got!

For the full price of £120 I am sure there would some more competition, but writing off the vouchers as "free money" and looking at an £80 cash price point might be a different story.

ON the Hudl Users Forum,it has been posted that the
Hudl2 will probably be September (ish) 2014 and will
be an 8.2 screen instead of 7 inch.

Got an update on the Hudl software last week. The update has introduced a touchscreen reset option to settings. However, I haven't had any issues with the touchscreen to need this option on my current hudl, first two did have an issue with it. I have though found that the upgrade obviously does do something else as the touchscreen is more accurate and far more responsive than previous and the whole tablet seems slicker and faster than ever.

Very strange. I got this update to my Hudl quite a few weeks ago (I think it's being rolled out over a longish period to all users) and I've experienced the exact opposite. I never had any problems before, but now I DO find the screen quite UNresponsive.

Before this update, if you were attempting to tap on a fairly small portion of the screen which may contain a few links close together, it used to popup with a magnified rectangular portion of that screen from which you could be more precise with another tap. It does not do this anymore and more often than not just ignores any taps unless you stretch-to-zoom to make the screen so big that it can't pretend to lie!

Thats in the browser (chrome) which is updated separately .... it is possible that for whatever reason chrome has been updated to drop that functionality.

Neither of my sons use the browser on their Hudls (one only uses Skype, the other plays games) and neither has complained abou the screen sensitivity.
