New BT YouView Humax DTR-2100 box

Article here on 5 reasons to get the new box: http://www.techadvisor.co.uk/feature...s-youview-box/

The main one of the five reasons seems to be that it's faster... well, as someone with a DTR-1000, why don't they just fix the bugs with loading the Guide etc and then it'd be just fine?!

Does anyone have one yet?

I have one and it is much better (I also still have the dtr1000). The main reason it is faster is because it has more memory (and faster processor I believe). You can only do so much with software improvements, there is no substitue for hardware grunt (otherwise we would all still be using 10 year old laptops)...

I have just got one. Bought the retail one as I have BT Sport running through the Vision Box and I would have lost that if I got one through BT. (no fibre internet)
Very small, silent. My first go at youview and very impressed. I wanted a Freeview HD PVR and this is the latest tech. I know it is not very pretty but it does the job. Used to buy pretty tech but if it doesnt work lol. Got an ugly Roberts radio as well but it's the best

I was having a random look on the bt shop site this morning, and I managed to bag a used/damaged one for £140 delivered. It said that everything was there but just a damaged cardboard box. I hope that it isn't a faulty returned box because of overheating. Quidco was stating 10% off for bt branded goods but I have no email yet, pretty sweet if I got it for £125.

Not happy that the box doesn't have a fan built in, on my current dtr 1000 I have it upside down with 2 usb fans over the vents pumping out some cold air. I was getting break up after 30-40 mins on my box and when I opened it up the fan didn't kick in at any point. I take it that bt/humax have never heard of the xbox 360

On another note I picked up the home hub 5 as well via ebay for £50 new/delivered. Saved me £70. Not sure how much better it will be compared to hub 3.

After complaining, BT Gave me the new Youview+ box & a HomeHub V5 for nowt!

The new little YouView box is way more responsive than my old chunky one.

hi guys please can you confirm if the Humax DTR-2100 box puts series recordings in a folder?

I read some reviews they all mention series link option but none of those confirm whether series folder is created or not.

The last thing I want 10 shows of series link displaying all on one page

Yes, series recording are automatically grouped together - you see just one name and you click on that to get a drop-down of all the recordings.

Unfortunately, you can't create your own folders, as I used to be able to do on my old Humax PVR.

Thanks David much appreciated. I'll be happy with automatically grouped folders as long as series recordings are kept together in a folder. I don't mind if it does not allow me to create folder manually although it would be nice if it did as my old trusty Toppy freeview recorder.

What about the BT software, is it reliable?

Which is the most reliable/fast pvr older Humax DTR-1000 or new BT Humax DTR-2100 box ?

Both seem to go reasonably cheap on ebay.

From what I've read the 2100 is a lot quicker - very happy with it so far.

BT software has been nearly 100% reliable so far - only had it a few weeks though. No reboots, recording failures or anything. The only problem I've found so far is that sometimes, after it comes out of standby, the channel will be blank. Switching up and then back down a channel (or vice versa) restores it though.

I'd like better radio features - they're lumped at the end of the TV channel line-up. My Humax Freeview+ DVR kept them separate and you had a TV/Radio button on the remote. Also, the 2100 doesn't show the on-screen graphics when listening to radio - you just get a black screen.

David.
