Food Hygiene Ratings In UK
I don't know if any of you have noticed that in every food place now in UK they have this food hygiene rating chart with marks out of 5 from 0 to 5. Most say 5 which is very and and a few say 4 which is good. I have only seen 1 place that is 3 but I couldn't see what the rating was for that as I was far away. Someone told me one place in my town got a 2 but I never saw that but I think it's got 5 again now and I have never know of a place get a 1 or 0. I was wanting to know what all the 6 ratings are of food hygiene in UK on the green and black sticker they put on the door or window.

There are a fair few 1's, 2's and 3's around here but for obvious reasons they don't put up their hygiene ratings in the window!
I've looked them up online though. |

I looked up a popular Chinese takeaway that a few of my friends use as it's local to them and it had a 2 rating
![]() It hasn't stopped them ordering from there. |

We used to always have Chinese delivered from a local takeaway as a treat. It was delicious and by far the best Chinese takeaway nearby. Then I decided I'd have a look at food standards ratings. I was horrified to see it had just 1 / 5 as a rating. As I have an OCD about germs I was not at all happy. Never used the place again. Now use one with 5 / 5, which is more expensive but nice. I presume if something gets 0 / 5 its because people are finding half a dead rat in their Chicken Chow Mein and a cockroach in their Prawn Balls.

One of the most populat takeaways in town, probably because of it's location for revellers after a night out, has just closed - infact shut down.
Apparently rats were found in the kitchen. Strange though as they have opened up in another, more remote, location in town. Surely whoever hands out licesnses must know that it's basically the same operation just in a different location? |

Our local market-place burger van got 1/5 in February last year. The rating isn't a surprise but I find it odd that they haven't been inspected since - I'd have thought that the below-adequate places would be subject to more frequent inspections until they improve.

I think it should be made law that all retailers that require a food hygiene should have it displayed in a place that it will be very noticeable to customers and potential customers. Maybe doing this will persuade them to get better especially if they think it might be affecting business.
