Last.fm = Youtube?
davor
23-04-2014
I haven't been logging into my Last.fm account in ages. This morning, I see that Last.fm is fetching videos from YouTube, and people no longer can upload their own music. What is the point of logging in to Last.fm account just to listen to music from YouTube? I'd never pay a premium account for that. Thoughts?

They've had serious money issues of late and have been pulling back their functionality.

Personally, I haven't used it since they tried to start charging me to listen to the same 5 songs over and over and over on my daily walk to work.

I didn't know they are ceasing subscription plan. Just got this e-mail earlier from Last.fm:

Quote:
“
Hi,

Thank you for your email.
From 28th April, our subscription radio streaming service will come to an end.
This means subscriber radio will no longer be available on any platform or
device.

You’ll still be able to listen to all of your favourite stations on the new
Last.fm Player (powered by Youtube) at http://www.last.fm/listen , as well as
listen to your favourite tracks with our recently launched on-demand playback
feature via Spotify.

I hope it helps.

Regards,
The Last.fm Support Team”

I used to love Last.fm because it was available on various devices, internet radios, hi-fi systems etc. , and it had a huge library (it was the first music streaming service of its kind after all). Spotify as it looks is killing off the competition. We really have to do something about the monopolistic behaviour on the Internet, this is starting to annoy. Anyway, R.I.P Last.fm (2002-2014)
