Which of these three girls with guitars do you reckon errr...rocks it best...so to speak?

The Runaways - Wasted

The Pretenders - Talk of the Town

PJ Harvey - This Is Love

Hard to say imo. But if someone held a gun to my head I would probably say Joan Jett.

Without a doubt Lita Ford of the Runaways.

Saw her live in London in 1983 supporting Rainbow awesome.

She was solo by then and into metal.

Sounds good Richard.

I hardly noticed her, being so mesmerised by Joan, but I can see where you are coming from!

None of them can compare to this girl, Sister Rosetta Tharpe - the woman who actually invented rock guitar!

Sister Rosetta Tharpe - That's All!

Sort of but i could not see anyone playing the interments like Lita Ford.

She is the biz having seen her live in her early metal career.

But i love all Girls that can actually play a guitar.

Is it this one? The Runaways.

I've never seen it but Kristen Stewart seems foxy enough to play a young Joan Jett tbh.

Yes, so do I but it doesn't have to be metal for me.
Joan Jett was a rocker when I saw her play with the Blackhearts- - I hate myself for loving you.

Here's The Slits with a great bit of new wave (and some guitars) - Typical Girls

Here's the first all girl pop rock band I can remember Clout - Substitute.

All great stuff love all the links.

All the links you posted rocked.

Although it does not have to be metal to have me enthralled. rock and roll is great or punk or indeed Blues

Try not to get your hopes up about it. Despite Kristen Stewart being the lead, I did - and it was a huge disappointment.

Surprised no mention of Orianthi here...

Orianthi - Highly Strung ft Steve Vai

I mean she writes a Steve Vai style song, and then gets him to do a guitar duel on it.

I'm a big fan of The Runaways/Joan Jett, but also like these https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYNWo93fPG8 and with Motorhead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5dA...=RD2eDDeM-o3p4

Girlschool's lead singer and guitarist Kelly Johnson sadly passed away in 2007 aged 49 from cancer.

It was for me, unfortunately. I won't judge anyone who liked it though

Maybe someone can convince me otherwise but I find that sort of music and performance soulless (and the tune was a bit tuneless), i.e. fantastic technique but that's all.

When you consider who invented the Blues, it's surprising there are no black female artists who play the Blues on this list.

Do you know any? Genuinely interested. Or is this another form of cultural appropriation?
