So I was watching Tuesday's episode for the fourth time (as most 21 year old guys do) and I couldn't help but notice something weird that I had to triple check to make sure I'd heard right. In the first scene downstairs in the Queen Vic Dexter knocks over Lucy's drink and says "sorry man, who's drink is that anyway?" and I couldn't help but notice in the penultimate scene in the Vic as the camera is scrolling back over to Peter sitting with Lauren Dexter says the exact same line word for word...

I'm not even beginning to imply that Dexter dropped some sort of big clue, but did anybody else notice that apart from me? What was the point of him being shown saying the same thing? Maybe more importantly why is Dexter such a klutz to knock over two drinks in the same day? Sorry if this thread is ridiculous, but I'm just really curious if anybody else noticed that, strange and unnecessary scene to have.

I'm surprised that Peter still had Lucy's drink after all that time, it was dark when Ian went in. I think if that was me I wouldn't have bothered getting another until she showed up.

Yeah I noticed it too. Its just a mistake I'm sure, like how Ian went in to the pub and people were on the streets and as soon as he come out with Peter they were all gone

Maybe it was intentional? Like with the phone messages at the end of fridays. Maybe the conversation was meant to be replaying to show that Lucy had not turned up yet...

Like I say I don't think it's a clue or anything, unless it's in reference to the Cora and Dexter covering up Abi's involvement potential storyline, but I just found it strange. Dexter being responsible would be crazy, talk about an anticlimax

As an aside, does anybody more experienced know how I can change the thread title? There's an embarrassingly grammatical error in there

If you've waited for the edit button to disappear, then I'm afraid you're stuck with it.

Although, tbh, I didn't notice the grammatical error until you pointed it out.

A brilliant line from a fantastically cast character.

You can press the red Alert button on your OP and ask the Mods to change it. I doubt that many people will notice though.

I didn't think that on the second occasion we heard that phrase that anyone was actually talking. I thought that at post-production stage, the Producer/Director must have decided to add some "generic pub sounds" and inadvertently used the soundtrack from the earlier scene including Dexter using that phrase.

However I'd like to think you were right Heathyheath_ !

David

Sorry for the late reply but I'd say that's the most likely explanation, thanks for clearing it up for me haha

Dexter did not knock over 2 drinks it was one. It was just a recording the 2nd time. I think it was just him being a klutz, unless him knocking down Lucy's drink had some symbolism to her being knocked down in the woods.

PS, i like your theory of Dexter and Cora covering for Abi.

Remember, they'd all spent the day drinking in the pub, so maybe he was a bit tipsy.

I can't remember the repeated line though, I'll have to watch again. Do you mean that he said it in the exact same way as well like how stuff is repeated in the radio trailer or did he ask in a different tone?

I remember when Peter had the car crash with Ian and Phil, Lucy was in the Vic and had a freaky twin connection moment where she knew something bad had happened. I thought they were going to reverse that with Peter for a little while.

Dexter never said it again. The camera went around looking at people. I think Kat was with Terry and Alfie, Lauren was with Peter and Dexter was at the bar with Nancy. It was just a recording got played while all these things were shown.

Ah right, so like a playback? Interesting.
