Kindle Fire HD

I bought a Kindle Fire about a year ago and I'm really pleased with it, BUT on the three occasions when I have downloaded an app it has caused the system to mute. even tho the volume shows that it is at maximum there is no sound at all, whether for YouTube, music files or notification sounds. Nothing. Sound returns as soon as I uninstall the app from the device. Does anyone else have this problem and if so how can I get around it? I'm loath to send it off to be examined/repaired.

Well, now it has lost all sound completely and I haven't downloaded any apps. There have been some automatic updates, otherwise nothing new. Gggggrrrrr!!! Could it be a virus?

Doubt it if you've not gone outside Amazon

Do headphones work?

Can you try in with a Blutooth speaker?

Yes, Tiexen,

It is working OK with headphones, so what do you think that indicates??

There's still no sound without headphones. It's as if there is a secret/hidden mute button somewhere, although the volume shows that it is fully up, both on the device and on the media player. Help, please!!

Have you tried a reset?

Right, so in the end I went on the Amazon help-line who told me how to do a twenty second reset but to no avail, so eventually I got put through to someone called Nathan in Edinburgh (very relieved to hear a voice which I could understand as I'm old!) who has arranged for me to have a replacement as it is still under warranty. Phew!! Apparently all my 'stuff' is in the 'cloud' so I won't lose anything but I'm still nervous about sending it back and getting a new one! Silly, I know! Thanks for the advice, everyone!
