That was really difficult, I had to exclude the likes of Pat Butcher from the list who I really liked but couldn't justify kicking the four I have out. There's no Watts love for me because as somebody who only maybe started watching Eastenders in 2002 when I was quite young I never got behind them as much as some longer viewers might. I liked Sharon and Den in what I seen but Den was murdered not too long into returning and since Sharon's came back I've found her unlikeable, Friday's episode was really the first time I found myself feeling for her since she returned, I'd love to see more of that Sharon in upcoming weeks”

Ok; fair enough reason as Chrissie was knocked out early (far too early) but at least you did get to view one watts in all her glory!!!!!!

But let's call a spade a spade: EE greatest moments involve a watts; they are also the ONLY common denominator for the show's 3 golden periods (except Ian who doesn't count as he was barely involved in the first).

Just saying it like it is (is that how that expression is worded?????)”

I would say the show is what the show is because of Angie and Den. It never would have got through those first few years without them, and their influence is still felt on the show today.

How many times do we hear a couple billed as the next Den and Angie - even now, nearly 30 years later. They've never been able to recreate the magic - the only couple that can even come close are Pat and Frank.

I think their influence is most recently seen in Linda and Mick. While the stories will be different, and it's quite clear they are made to stay together, they are the most Den and Angie-like characters we've ever had.

I would love to know what those plans were. She came back at the worst possible time and I suspect has been caught between the whims of 3 very different producers.

I agree 100%. And you are so right about the "next ange and den". Even the media do it. EE has and will always exist in their shadow to some extent. I do also agree with pat and frank. For me though I never liked either character as much when they were apart. I loved them together; but unlike den and ange who I do believe could work without the other; both pat and frank lost some of their magic when apart.

As surprising as it may seem to some given how highly I praise the watts; I welcomed frank and pat in the vic in 1988. They were the only ones who could keep the vic as electric as Sharon, den, ange, or Chrissie. It alwYs saddens me they didn't get longer in it and IMO pat should have got the vic in 05 not bloody Peggy. Sharon could easily have sold it to her, as pat actually had capital then. Seeing pat as landlady in the later 00s may well have kept pam on longer as, to be frank, I'm not surprised she eventually quit.
