Am kinda surprised too tbh, Neighbours is better these days,,,, H&A is a shadow of it's former self...too much emphasis on The Braxtons.

I took a break after Sally left last year but tuned back in a few months ago and am loving it now. The stories are great. Even Irene, Marilyn and Leah have all had big stories this year. And in Australia, Home and Away still rates in the top ten every night so it's well deserved.

No accounting for taste.

HAA is a load of crap; but the equivalent of Corrie or EE in Oz, whilst Neighbours is basically like Family Affairs or Hollyoaks over there so it's no real surprise

Let's not forget H&A also won at the Inside Soap Awards last year.

As Home and Away is so superior to Neighbours its hardly surprising to be honest.

Irene never get storylines these days as she is hardly onscreen.

The bomb, the siege, her having new people live in her house, her hilarious pairing up with Chris! And there's some good stuff coming up at the diner too.

Very true but she has been neglected for many years. I'm not sure what's happening with the diner but she needs a big storyline

I believe it is here too I personally think Neighbours is boring with most of the characters unlikeable. The recent storyline with Kate getting killed was a pretty damp squib to be honest and as far fetched as it gets IMO

For some reason, Neighbours seem to be more popular than Home and Away. The ratings says it all and it seems many UK people prefer Neighbours than Home and Away. Neighbours isn't perfect but I find the characters more interesting than Home and Away. Most of the Home and Away cast are young and always involved in love triangles etc. Just my opinion

Neighbours embraces diversity more than H & A.

When did or has H & A ever had a regular gay or lesbian character?

Home and Away is great right now. Still surprised they won though. Neighbours is more popular here but they do get a lot more promotion from Ch5 over here, more than what Home and Away gets. Clearly Home and Away is bigger over in Aus.

Would liked to have seen Dan win in his category, but was up against Steve who I thought had it in the bag. Not sure what happened there,

Hopefully Home and Away will improve as they need to focus less on the Braxtons and give Irene and Alf more storylines.

TBH I use to like H&A but its cast changeover is annoying I tuned in recently and only recognize a few regulars.

Alf and Irene have had quite a bit of screen time lately, ok the stories given weren't that big but it's a start

So, H&A stages a bomb explosion, then a siege, both of which involves Irene, who doesn't suffer any psychological repercussions from either life threatening situcation, and you say Kate's shooting is far fetched?! OK, then.

I don't think Neighbours has that many unlikeable characters: Josh is the only one that comes to mind. Amber, Matt, Brad are dull, and some people find Sonya annoying, but this is not the same as being unlikeable. H&A has a lot of dull, hollow characters from what I've seen: Josh, Andy, Maddy, Matt, the twins...

Anyway, good on Bonnie Sveen was winning, as from what I've seen of Ricky, she's pretty awesome.

Congrats to H&A.
I enjoy both H&A and Neighbours, so I hope Neighbours gets their turn next year. Neighbours has been rather good lately. That`s all I will will say as I watch both on Aus pace.
I see that H&A is taking another break in May which will put the UK 2 months behind Australia. It seems rather unfair to the British H&A fans to keep them waiting..

Dannii Minogue has posted a lovely pic of her and Kate Ritchie. Dannii apparently pops over to the H&A table every year to catch up with Kate an Ray Meagher. And she got in a lot of trouble before for tweeting Ray Meagher had won as there was a 15 minute delay in it being televised so she announced it before it was screened "live"

We'll done to home and away! Well deserved this year it's been a very big year. Bombs, London, brax in jail. And now with The Braxton's looking like some may be leaving soon we can finally get past the Braxton overload.

Remember home and away is on a main network in Aus now and has to compete against the big exciting dramas. The days of soap operas being all about daily life etc are gone. I for one love the big over the top stories. Coupled wih the sunshine it makes for good afternoon escapism for us Brits.

Well done to Bonnie too. Shone out from the moment she was introduced in to the show.
