Infinity 2 slowed down
garbageguy
27-04-2014
I have Infinity 2 and at first got speeds of 59mb, the max my line could hold, then it crept up to an amazing 73/18mbs and held there for several months, now a BT engineer came out to fix a line fault and replaced the master socket, not Im only getting 46/11mbs I called BT but they say its a good speed, They said they will reset my line, but im not holding out much hope

Im on Infinity 2 and 98% of the time get speeds of between 64mb and 66.9mb.
I also get between 13mb and 17.5mb upload.

Check your profile, I'm on infinity 2 yet get infinity speeds, my upload speed is set at 10 Mbps which is wrong for infinity 2 as the upload speed should be 20 Mbps maximum.

BT are getting moaned at tomorrow again.

Don't despair, my profile was set to a lower speed after a fault it took a call to customer services to get it reset and it's now back to 79/19.

All looking good here 75mb down 19mb up.

Am I right in the assumption that as the fibre cab fills your line can deteriate due to crosstalk , hopefully when vectoring is finally introduced this problem should go away.

I think so. I was one of the first to sign up to infinity 2 when my cab first went live about 8 months ago. I was originally getting 74mb/19mb,
now i am getting about 68mb/18mb.
So it has slowed down a little on dl speed. Still a lot faster than my old adsl speed of 3mb down!

I was one of the first in our cab nearly 3 years ago and my max attainable speed was 128Mbit, but as it has filled up its now down to 111Mbit.

Thanks for the info upon checking my stats in the HH5 it says my max attainable speeds are 128Mbit down and 35Mbit up currently.

Wow, thats fast, mine seems to be getting slower, 44/8 this morning , the engineer called last week and said the fastest I could get was 55/17...so how come I was getting 73/18 and speed checker said I could get 59/18.
BT complaints keep trying to ring me, dont they realise people work ?? then when i arrange a ring back, they dont call

This could be DLM - if the line is unstable at whatever speed it initially chooses it backs down the speed and tries again.

The question is also HOW you could ever have got 73/18 when the speed checker (which know the rough distance to your CAB) said only 59/18!!!

The BT Wholesale line checker at https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html gives a range of likely FTTC speeds for good and poor lines.

thats what i was surprised with, i initially got 59, then it went to 63 then 69 and 73, ... we had to have the master socket replaced as the cat had been peeing on it and it had gone rusty......it was only after it was replaced the speeds dropped....can cat pee boost my speeds?? lol

Easy - the BTw availability checker is often conservative, so if your internal wiring is good then there's plenty of instances whereby the EU gets more than the checker.

Mine said 62Mbps and down to 41Mb impacted. My max attainable was 104 Mbps when the cab was new. Its now down to about 85 Mb due to crosstalk.

Im guessing im on the impacted scale, even though they say im not, or its something to do with the cat pee ?? today i was getting 50/8 8 !! from 18
