Despite mixed opinions on these forums about the show, Hollyoaks has done very well for itself in the nominations department for the soap awards. Which awards do you think the show will win? I'm hoping Dan Tetsell wins best comedy performance. Surprised Charlie Clapham is up for an award though...I like his character but he's not the strongest actor in soapland

Its all well and good HO getting the most votes, but all it means is voted will be split in categories they are nommed more than once sadly. So I'm not very optimistic about it.

Yeah, good for Hollyoaks. I don't think it's been particularly strong recently, but good for them for getting so much recognition.

Surely you mean well done to the well-organised multiple-voting campaign that was carried out. If it was one person, one vote, they wouldn't have stood a chance.

Internet voting doesn't work, and awards organisers should take careful note.

This is, clearly, an absolute travesty.

Yes I agree with this.

The mass phone/internet voters made an error here, they would have been better off organising themselves better to mass vote on one person only.

I would be amazed if they actually won any of the categories they are nominated in.

Hollyoaks always does well in the weekly polls on here, I imagine that hollypaks fans are a lot more internet savvy than fans from the other soaps.

It is possible to vote more than once so what you sugggest is a posibility. No doubt these accusations will come up again if they actually do win an award

I think a lot of people set up new emails and vote that way.

I'm glad hollyoaks have been nominated for a lot of awards and I believe they deserve a lot of awards I'm still confused about why Freddie is nominated for newcomer though.

Yeah, I think Sienna or even Trevor (I know people don't like the gangster storylines, but I think Greg Wood is very good in the role) should have been nominated ahead of him.

It was better in the old days when you had to fill in a coupon in the Inside Soap or whatever, and send it in. You had to put your name and address on so you could only vote once.

Course, the voting numbers were a lot smaller then. I have a very vague memory of an early soap awards where it was announced that 50,000 votes had been cast.

These days it is a bit of a joke when you can - a lot of people DO - just multi-vote endlessly.
Course, whoever makes money from all these multi-votes are happy it happens.

But the awards are a joke anyway. They've especially been a joke since Anthony Cotton won Best Actor in 2007! He can't act, he'd never had a storyline, but I suspect the Corrie bosses were busy on the multi-voting that year!

A lot of people have admitted to doing that.

I think hollyoaks does well going up against the three big soaps esp as alot of soaps have gone now. I remember the early awards when there was seven or eight casts there. I always support them as like doctors they are considered the underdogs at these events as they have smaller viewing figures.

The public do get it right occasionally and claire coopers award was well deserved last year but sometimes it is down to who they think are popular than acting skills in all the soaps.

I will be supporting hollyoaks and most likely rolling my eyes when the same people win again.

It's not 'sometimes' down to it, it's ALWAYS down to it!
No one picks anyone on acting ability but on who their favourites are! It's always been the case.

I said years ago the only one that gets this right is the NTA because they have 'Most populatr' actor/actress.

If it was down to acting ability the likes of David Neilson would have won years ago. But he's not appealing to 'young people', he's just a brilliant actor.

C'mon Hollyoaks#dotheH. I hope they win some awards, personally I think they deserve it. The only one I don't agree about is Charlie (Freddie) for newcomer I would have went with Charlie (Robbie) or Kirsty (Leela). Good luck to all of them

Steph Davis really does deserve the nomination for Best Actress but it's obvious who it will go to.

To be fair, despite not being a full-time regular viewer of the show anymore; when I have watched the show its impressed me it is different to other three British soaps for one I think it is the most creative of the bunch. There are still a good stream of characters on the show and I don't see any reason why it shouldn't pick up some awards at the British Soap Awards

The fact that Charlie "my eyes do all the acting" Clapham is up for nomination shows what a joke these awards are.

I think Hollyoaks deserve to win a few, especially Anna Passey and Steph Davies. Who cares if people are multi-voting? I am sure fans of all the soaps do it too.

She still has a fairly good chance of Best Dramatic Performance. But I do think she should win Best Actress out of the two as she has been amazing in the Katy illness and death storyline.

Nominated in every category is brilliant but it's not exactly been Hollyoaks strongest year in terms of real drama and acting. There have been a few good moments (such as the Katy storyline) but the majority really hasn't been up to scratch in comparison to recent years.

The problem with multi voting from here on in though is that unless HO fans are organised the EE fans will out vote them. Being nominated more than twice in most of the categories will go against them. This is how Anthony Cotton won best actor that year because the vote was split between two EE actors and James Sutton at the other side. So by default Cotton won.

If hollyoaks only get one award- all the other soap fans will take the piss when eastenders only won 1 last year. People seem to have no reason for hating hollyoaks. Beyond a joke!
