I would prefer to see a Veronica/Ronnie complex like Noma/n Bates than Darth Mitchell

Rather than Ronnie just becoming evil, I'd rather her become a sort of Norman Bates psychopath.

I don't particularly mean in the sense of killing people, although if they want to go down that route, I'd still prefer the Norman Bates avenue.

I'd like it more I think if Ronnie (after all that she has been through) started to lose grip of her reality and snapped - Developing an alter-ego in he eyes of her father, as Veronica! That would mean we'd still get good Ronnie and she would VS. herself. I think it fits her complexity better and is much more satisfactory to me than Ronnie becoming like Darth Vader (as DTC proposed), because the Darth Mitchell route seems less unsympathetic and irredeemable than the Bates comparison would be.

Anyone else agree?

I wouldnt want an out and out split personality type situation but I do think it'd be interesting to go some way down that road. She could definitely start introducing herself as Veronica when she wants to be scary and taken seriously etc

Clearly we are going to see Ronnie embrace her dark side even more as time goes on and I welcome that!

digs Archies body up and slumps him on a chair.

Yes Father....but he was horrible to Roxy father he needed to be killed!

I think we already have a Norma/Norman Bates relationship with Ronnie and Roxy.

I think DTC meant the gradual change into a villain as Anakin became Darth Vader when he was seduced to the dark side after his wife died.

This for me means its too late. They needed to do this after Danielle/James died. Unless Roxy dies there is no need for Ronnie to suddenly change now.

Yeah being subtle about it would be really tasteful for the most part, until she really gets pushed over the edge! I just think it would be much more interesting for Veronica to appear in Ronnie's personality and become more dominant against her during this stint. I also think this theory better explains why Ronnie has kept Archie's ring and wears it.

When I think about it more and more, the more similarities I see between Archie/Ronnie and Norma/Norman.

The parent wanted to control their child because they were growing up and becoming an adult with their own life.
The Parent manipulated their child to regain that control, ultimately screwing up that childs mental stability in doing so.
The parent died, leaving their child to stew and suffer in the mental instability caused by the parent.
Leaving the child to grow ever more insane and obsessed with the absent parent, who is still rooted so deeply in their problems caused.

It just screams out parallel to me

You must be off your trolley.

There is NO way in hell EE writers could do a split personality. Maybe 10 years ago with writers like Sarah phelps but not now. It would be appalling. He'll, they couldn't even portray the mental aspects of the baby swap properly which in comparison to a split personality are far more simple.

The darth vader route is far easier and more likely for them to pull off. Having said that, the darth vader path to evil was not very well represented on screen. It came across far better in the earlier 3 movies that didn't really concern it; the prequel characterisation of vader's transformation left a lot to be desired.sigh. More bad writing.
