Android anti-theft - which is better - Kaspersky or Cerberus?

Hi there,

I have a un-rooted Three Galaxy S5 and installed Cerberus a few days ago as there was a deal to activate it for free, but I've also just installed Kaspersky anti-virus which has the option for anti-theft as well.

I was wondering if anybody had an idea if one was better than the other?

I would prefer to use just Kaspersky if that is just as good as Cerberus as it would be better to have 1 app than 2 separate ones?

Cheers, Mark.

What features do you require for 'anti-theft' ?

Personally I ensure:
a) I have a password/pattern lock
b) I automatically back up any photos to Dropbox (although Google Drive would also suffice)

If you need to remote lock/wipe the handset you can also do that from Google Location services .....

Are there other features that these provide ?

The main ones I wanted that were in Cerberus were (not sure if they were in Karpasky) :

Mugshot
Tracking (believe it shows on the map where the phone has been over a period of time)?
Call logs
Messages
Record audio
Take a video
Also handy being able to see how much battery left)

Also not sure how good any of the apps and also the built in one regarding if the thief does a factory reset (can this be done on the S5 like the S3 where you just hold a couple of buttons down on boot)?

That all sounds very "Nancy Drew"

I think i'd just be happy to wipe and block the unit

I was hoping I may be able to get the phone back with a mug shot of who had it and the location, but not sure how the will work in practice?

I've had cerberus on my phones for a few years now. It works exactly as it says it does. If the phone is rooted you can effectively bake in into the rom so a factory reset makes no difference. It also will take photos if someone puts the wrong pin/swipe etc in and email the pics to you. Not even looked at other apps since as this does everything you really need an app to do.

You can test all the functions through the cerberus site.

Cheers for that.

It seems to be working well.

I had a couple of mug shots emailed to me this morning when my little boy must have tried to unlock my phone with his finger this morning.

The site looks quite impressive with the features you have.
