If anyone had posted a similarly doctored speed test image about 3 I have no doubt that the small band of regulars who defend that network would have put all their efforts into discrediting the post and the person who made it, comical or not.

Of course I recognise this is supposed to be humorous but at the same time it is classic disinformation and an attempt to undermine the giffgaff business and that has been apparent for a long time on this board.

Whilst comedy is always welcome the deliberate misrepresentation of network speed results using doctored images makes one question what the agenda is with some.

I did laugh for a moment but when I thought about the effort to post such disinformation my amusement turned to suspicion re the motive. I keep certain individuals on 'ignore' due to constant stalking and torment ( they will post directly after this as they always do, it's a very regular series of expected responses by the usual individuals) but I am sure some excuse will be forthcoming and how that explains things will be up to the judgement of those reading it.
Some real tests were posted with a new 4G goodybag I purchased. I tested it at home, where only GPRS was available and got 0.00 down with a massive ping, despite 5 bars of signal. I then later tested it in a different town all together on 5 full bars of H+ and got 0.38Mb/s down with a 309ms ping. I'll be testing in a 4G area next weekend, no matter the result 50Meg down I have said the tests will be posted.

People were joking that you would be along to go crazy when you see those results, so I posted a joke screenshot that was obviously mocked up in paint in 2 minutes.

I can't help it if the real testing I did has upset you. However if the obviously mocked up screenshot with a great big drawn on red arrow in Microsoft Paint upset you, then please accept my apologies.

As promised I have done some testing with giffgaff 4G in a 4G area.

The results were 3.93Mb/s down and 13.83Mb/s up

That download speed seems quite poor for 4G, is it consistently like that? The upload speed is decent, I often get worse on 3 4G for upload.

I don't live in a 4G area, so I only got a chance to test it when staying over at a friends. I tested Three earlier the same day http://oi60.tinypic.com/30iyjaf.jpg.

I decided to give the Giffgaff 4G a try, it's pathetic, I'm getting 3.5Mbps down and 5.2Mbps up in a good signal area.

Compared to a Three test on 3G from the same location that runs 13.6Mbps down and 2.3Mbps up.

Though it's definitely a Giffgaff throttling exercise as a Lyca sim also using O2 4G tested at 26Mbps down and 19Mbps up from the same location.

It would seem that Giffgaff have concluded that the way to solve their congestion issues is to throttle the life out of everyone rather than improve capacity.

I haven't tried Giff Gaff 4G.

But I have tried O2 4G and that's fine. Really good speeds.

If those are the types of speeds Giff Gaff customers are getting then they are certainly not receiving the same level of service as O2 customers.

But then I've already proved that before.

Giffgaff users aren't even getting the service given to Lyca or Tesco customers. It's quite scandalous how Telefonica are actually treating their own customers as opposed to MVNO customers on their network.

I've been with giffgaff for nearly 4 years, i've now ordered a Three sim, data is shocking.

Well I am surprised, I have tried it now in 3 locations on 2G 0.00Mb/s down, 3G 0.38Mb/s down and 4G 3.95Mb/s down. At least they are getting faster with each generation of technology! Maybe it'll improve after the trial?

Maybe you should try the app being advertised at the bottom.
