I know some storylines on soaps can help people have any affected you or someone you knew?

If you mean in terms of identifying issues then not really no but I do know people that have come out and in one case even found out they were adopted after watching Soaps with their families.

I have found certain storylines cathartic - releasing emotions by seeing something o screen which has mirrored stuff in my life like bereavement and causing the tears to flow or to discuss past events and feelings with family.

Being quite impressionable, certain SLs have affected me, I can't lie.

I've recently befriended the old dear who runs our newsagents, she likes a few gins of an evening and a bit of a sing song - I'm hoping she'll be offering me cheques very soon.
I notice she doesn't have a son, so I've been accidentally calling her "Mum" and explaining to her that I'm about to have and carry a baby for a childless couple up our road, one of whom's a war veteran.
I'm hoping she won't notice that I'm a bloke.

Also I've been playing cards of a night with an old acquaintance, he's not very good at cards and keeps badgering me to double or quits - he currently owes me £33,000 and we've only been playing 'Fish.'
I've no chance of getting the lolly from him, so I'm currently in the process of blackmailing his bird into sleeping with me, in order for me to 'release him' from our contract.
She's a right trollop so is bound to say yes.

Lastly, there's a fat bloke moved into our area who's on about opening up a gym.
He's got moobs on him like Diana Dors' jugs - yet everybody believes he's this brilliant fitness guru, including me.
He's been training me a bit this week on the side like, but last night he pushed me too hard, so I belted him straight out, convinced he must be after my missus an all that.

Oh yeah, and the missus told me this morning that a long lost relative of mine, who I haven't seen since 1974 is moving to Northampton.
So I've been on the blower all day, tracking down all my other rellies to suggest we all move to Northampton promptly, to the very same street in fact, where we'll all be guaranteed jobs within a stone's throw of our new houses within days.

Tomorrow, I'm off down the local homeless shelter to see if there's any petite, pretty, 17-year girls that need my "help."
I'll let you know how I get on.

Cancer and the whole cancer gene storyline has become a reality for me lately, so yeah Carol's storyline has hit a bit close to me recently.

And don't forget you're booked on the flight to Latvia tomorrow for that much needed 'enhancement' procedure.

BIB: yes I have found myself affected like that too but other programmes can have the same effect on me too, I often blubbered at 'Surprise, Surprise' the Cilla version not the Holly one

Cripes, I'd clean forgotten about that OJ.

I'm gonna have some serious darn booty on me arse thanks to old Ma Cotton's bingo win.
She's a generous lady and no mistake.

Incidentally, I was in our local boozer earlier, which is called 'The Rovers Don't Go in the First Place' - anyhoo I noticed they have a sign up asking for part-time bar staff to apply within, so I applied within.

The landlady asked me what experience I had, and I said bloody loads love - I'm absolutely brilliant at folding my arms, hanging my jaw open in a shocked expression, and rolling my eyes in a hugely sarcastic manner.
She said they'd "let me know" but I reckon I'm bound to get it.

They won't get anyone as qualified as me and that's a fact.

Quite a few Hollyoaks ones have been too close to reality for me over the years.

Hilton Cunningham being born early - My niece was born at 26 weeks and was in hospital for a long time like Hilton with all kinds of problems. Thankfully now she's a healthy 5 year old.

Sinead having Katie taken away from her. This has happened to a couple of close people in my life and is currently happening to another person very close to me. When you witness the devastation caused to families who have their child taken from them first hand it really changes your thinking. It was the same with the Lola/Lexi story in EE. It actually upset me even more because of how Trish was treating Lola and the underhand methods she used to try and paint Lola as unfit, the uproar made with people saying SS aren't like that was laughable because there ARE plenty out there who will twist things etc as a couple of the people I know will tell you. They've been on the receiving end.

There are other Hollyoaks ones which have affected me because they've reflected real events in my life too.

When Sally discovered Miles was her twin on H&A a girl I worked with at the toke started crying and said she could relate to it because she has been adopted.

EE Janet Mitchell storyline. Had a Downs Syndrome friend and was looking forward to seeing what they did with storylines relating to how Janet would be raised. Shame it never happened.
