Does anyone else agree that the new Shabnam is really beautiful? I didn't realise it at first! When she's looking natural and not wearing her hijab, she's literally stunning

She has a pretty face and pulls off short hair really well.

I think she's an excellent character and a very beautiful young woman. I really love how she portrays Islam in a positive light, I'm not Muslim but I like how she's came across, they've not went for the obvious and she's been like a breath of fresh air. I like how she sticks to the rules of just not wearing her hijab around family and friends and the fact that she is beautiful with or without the hijab on really emphasises and explains the reason why Islam believe girls should keep their hair covered in public.

I get that Shabnam can be immature, narrow minded and petty at times but she's a young girl and all young people have flaws and temptations so she's very realistic in that aspect.

I agree. It's refreshing to see a Muslim character that isn't portrayed as a walking hijab, spewing out Islamic rhetoric, unlike Dot who's depiction as a Christian borders on parody sometimes. A small thing such as Shabnam not wearing her hijab in the house just makes her seem a lot more three-dimensional for some reason.

Does anyone know how old she's supposed to be? I thought she was about 30?

I reckon she's supposed to be 27 or 28. I think Syed is about 30 and he's older than Shabnam.

She looks really young
I don't think she's 30, definitely not.
Possibly mid 20's , though she looks younger

Agree with all this, and yes she is really beautiful, the short hair looks stunning on her!

Well Tam is now 23 and was about 17/18 when they first arrived and Shabs was supposed to be a uni graduate at that point, so she'd be about 21/22 in 2007, making her about 28 now. I think Syed is meant to be about 30 now, because he was around 24/25 when we first saw him.

Yes - I think she is a good character, and seems to be well written.

I cant help but wonder though, how long it will be till they stop her wearing her hijab full stop? EE (and other soaps) seem to forget things like this after a while
