abuse storylines that have been portrayed very well
I think hollyoaks Maxine and Patrick's other than needing a bit more screen time I think the storyline has been brilliant the build up was brilliant as they did it so it was realistic. Also Nikki Sanderson and Jeremy Sheffield have been brilliant.
What abuse storylines do you think have been portrayed very well? |

I agree on the Trevor and Little Moe and PAtrick and Maxine.
What I love with the Maxine storyline is she was a fiesty woman and has now been turned into a shell of her former self. To see that transformation at the hand of Patrick is brilliant. |

The Kat/Harry storyline was very well done. I think it portrayed very accurately. Why Kat felt she couldn't say anything, how it plunged her childhood into a very dark and unknown world that left her dealing with things and a situation that she was too young to process, while the man who raped her walked away and got on with his life.
Also the aftermath, her families reaction to it and how she felt like an absolute outsider to the rest of the family. It tore them to shreds for a while after they found out and they showed how Kat felt as if she was somehow to blame for the damage done to Zoe and the rest of the family, even if only slightly (Which of course she absolutely was not!!!!) |

The Whitney and tony storyline.i wish lorraine Newman hadn't killed tony off DTC would have probably brought the character back into it to cause more distress and would have given Whitney the jacksons more to do.

It's rare for me to mention Coronation Street but I really liked Charlie Stubbs storyline back in the day where he emotionally abused Shelley. I thought it was very realistic and well done and proved that you didn't need to be physically hurting somebody for there to be abuse, something that I found important to portray.
On the Eastenders side of things, although I was very young at the time I really think the storyline about Trevor committing consistent domestic violence on Little Mo was brilliant. I remember reading how domestic abuse services were shown clips from the storyline even because of how realistic a portrayal it was, gripping stuff. |

So true!
I would add: EE - Little Mo/Trevor Brookside - Mandy/Trevor Jordache Ste Hay and Amy on Hollyoaks, a few years back was very good. Brendan and Ste was so interesting but they lost focus on the violence and never really dealt with it properly I didn't think. And that's from a fan. Never believed in Maxine and Patrick's relationship though. |

Trevor and Little Mo was the best, for sure, but other worthy mentions for me are Whitney and Tony from EastEnders, and also Ste and Amy from Hollyoaks. I felt it was an interesting look into teen domestic violence, and demonstrated that abuse didn't just occur between married couples. Of course, that abuse story came full circle when Brendan starting abusing Ste, which was another unique storyline in its own right, domestic violence in a gay relationship.
I haven't followed Maxine and Patrick's story as closely, and I found them as a couple a bit unbelievable from the off. Nevertheless, I have grown to really like the actress who plays Maxine during the storyline, which is saying something because I couldn't stand her in Corrie. As for Kirsty and Tyrone, I appreciated where they were trying to go with the female-to-male violence but it just became tedious towards the end and kind of laughable. I could understand Tyrone not retaliating when Kirsty was pregnant but I struggled to believe her would never even try to defend himself even once from her. |

The Trevor and little Mo was the best, Trevor was just evil and his his Scottish accent was chilling as well. Ben and Stella was also good. I do like Patrick and Maxine, Patrick is rather terrifying. Quote:

In Family Affairs when Chrissie Costello pretended her daughter had cancer. It was a very good storyline, very well done.

The Seamus and Brendan abuse storyline was one of my absolute favourites. It was truly horrifying but briilliantly written and acted.

The Kirsty and Tyrone plot was superbly acted and well written until they had Fiz have the affair with Tyrone.

To quote grandpa Simpson; "Well everything's stolen nowadays. Why the fax machine is nothing but a waffle iron with a phone attached." Bearing in mind this has absolutely no relevance to the thread topic, but I just feel like quoting The Simpsons .

Steve and Michelle. I think it's fantastic that Coronation Street are continuing their excellent track record of female-male domestic violence with such a hard hitting plot rooted in character driven truth.
