Carol Barry disowned Barry from the family when she discovered he was the one that stole kaceys fund money. Barry walks away from the school after being disowned by his mother only to be involved in a horrific car accident that night and is left brain damaged.

"your own sister? 'Ow could ya steal money from ya own family?" Carol snapped at her son.

"Either ya 'and yaself in ta the police or I will"
"ma please?" Barry replied on the verge of tears.
"Ya stay away from me 'an ya sisters"

Barry walked all the way home, he had orders from his mum to pack his things and leave before she returned home from dropping Kacey at the airport.

He grabbed his mums car keys from the coffee table. He had passed his drivers test four months ago but didn't yet have a car of his own. The car was in the drive, Barry smirked and got in.
