Pass through question on Marantz AV receiver
Hi,
i've recently purchase a Marantz NR1504 and I've got a few pieces of equipment connected to it through the HDMI Inputs. Does anybody know how the pass through works as it looks as if the AV receiver will pass through only one input?? I don't need the AV receiver on all the time. TV volume is fine especially late at night. I think I've read somewhere that you can slect which input to pass through without turning the receiver on but I don't know how to do this. Any help wil be appreciated. |

Page 100 of the manual
http://www.marantz.co.uk/DocumentMas...CD-ROM_v00.pdf If you've filed yours in the bin ![]() You can set it to pass through either the last used source or a specific one of the HDMI inputs. |

Thanks for responding.
I was sort of aware of the options given on the instructions but I had seen elsewhere online - can't remember where sorry, that it could pass through more. Oh well, it's not a major issue but just wondered if it was possible. |

It's a bit unclear from the manual whether HDMI control modifies the pass through behaviour or not. HDMI control should make the receiver auto switch between HDMI inputs as you turn connected devices on and off. eg you were watching Sky then turn the Blu-Ray player on to watch a movie and the receiver should switch from Sky to Blu-Ray automatically. What would be interesting to know is if that sort of auto switching also worked with the receiver in standby. Pretty sure it doesn't on my Onkyo but then I never use pass through and the telly speakers are permanently muted ![]() But there is this in the Marantz manual Quote:
When “HDMI Control” in the menu is set to “On”, signals input to the HDMI input connector are output to the television or other device connected to the HDMI output connector, even if the power of this unit is in standby (pass-through function)
Now I wonder what that really means? Only way to find out for sure I suppose is to try it. if you have two or more devices connected to it via HDMI try setting HDMI control "ON" on everything and see what happens as you turn them on and off when the Marantz is in standby.

Hi
Just wondered if you got this to work at all? I would like to buy the new Marantz NR1506 when it's available, but wondered how the passthrough would work. There are times when I would only want to use the TV speakers, but wanted this to switch automatically when the receiver is switched off. Do you need to switch the receiver on every time you change source so that the 'last source selected' is passed through? Cheers WIll. |
