Receving phone calls while on the phone?
Rush

When I was on 3; I was able to receive calls while I was on the phone then, put the caller on hold and speak to the other one, so basically I never missed a call.

Since I moved to Vodafone this feature seems to have stopped? Do Vodafone offer this? Or is it only 3?

This is called call waiting. The Vodafone website suggests that they do support it. Perhaps you should follow the steps on the link below to try and enable this.

Thanks, that seems to be just getting a 'beep' while you are on the phone, rather than receving the call.

Wait, what exactly do you mean then? You're already on a call and the call automatically comes through and cuts off the other person without asking you? That never happens on any network.

No he's saying he can answer the second call whilst maintaing the first call and being able to switch between them.

I had a customer moaning about some vodafone call issue today.
Was trying to change the network subnet for about 20 devices at the time so wasn't exactly listening properly.
Does anything on Vodafone work?

You should make sure call waiting is enabled in your phone settings.

I have had an iPhone 5, a Galaxy S3 and now a HTC One M8 on Vodafone with call waiting enabled and all three phones have given a repetitive 'beep beep' to indicate another call is incoming. I also have numerous colleagues (around 25) who all use call waiting regularly with no problems, on various phones.

On a modern phone, I have never had to do any of the dialling methods above, just simply enable it in the phone settings menu, then I assume the phone sends a code very similar to the above to let the network know.

Did you read the set up and how to use it and swap between calls ?

Quote:
“ from the link -
To activate - enter *43# followed by SEND
To accept the incoming call and end the original call - press 1 then SEND
To hold the original call and accept the incoming call - press 2 then SEND
To swap between calls - press 2 then SEND
To end present call and return to holding call - press 1 then SEND
To cancel - enter #43# then SEND”

Little FYI - You can merge two calls on 3 too, to create a 3-way call.

They've got quite a good working system with the HMRC, where they just name the amount of tax they fancy paying.

You can also do three way calling on o2, used on a number of times to make it apper I was with someone when I wasn't, also I confused my boss no end.

Which one doesn't support this?

How many people can you add to a conversation before it stops working? I have always had as a three way but can you (theoretically?) add more people?

I can't remember which one, which is why I didn't say which one.

I believe the limit is 5, but that depends on the network and the system used. Can't quite recall if the GSM standard allows 3 or 5...
