I have to say im not a fan of the whole 2G areas being displayed under the 3G banner.

No, while all the networks are guilty of bending the truth occasionally, this is blatantly trying to trick people. The only reason I looked closer was because I knew the coverage wasn't that good around here so I guessed it was a trick.

Well, it depends what you consider a "trick". There are plenty of things that affect coverage, not least the make, model, and orientation of an individual's phone.

Chances are coverage *is* there, and if you were to stick a calibrated probe with a true omnidirectional antenna on it you would be able to detect a signal. Your phone, however, may choose to think otherwise.

no there is seriously a bug if you look at the st5 area. if you click on 3g coverage you get blanket coverage compared to patchy 2g.

Looks fine to me, it's showing pretty much the opposite. Blanket 2G and patchy 3G.

It's showing blanket coverage here also, in Blaenau Ffestiniog.

There is no 3G here from any network - despite Vodafone turning on 3G here a few months back, which was on for about a week, and then they turned it off again and we've not seen it since! Strangest thing I've encountered in the mobile world!

(Before anyone tells me there is Three or EE 3G coverage here, the maps are very overally optimisitc and the reality is very different - mountainous terrain all around & not something there computer modeled signal mapping cam calculate very well.)

it's the 3G900 layer.

they seem to think they have the penetrating power neutrinos formed in the heart of a supernova. or else they just don't bother trying to model it.

you should be able to turn off the 3G900 layer because 1) it's complete lies, 2) not everyone can use it.

check this out. around birmingham 2000km2 of glorious uninterrupted indoor 3G.

That's not 3G900, that's a rendering error.

3G900 has been on the map a little while now, these borked areas only a short time.

they took the 3g900 off because of that very problem, and when they put it back it looked like that.

Not here it didn't.

When they first put 3G900 back on the map it was correct. It's only over the last few days that it's been updated to these new ridiculous levels.

The coverage map for east Kent is broken for 3G: http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/1...g-eastkent.png

Yeah as you can see from the giant straight line across the middle of the screen, something is seriously wrong with their rendering right now. But it looks like some areas are getting worse and some are being fixed... Odd

it's pictures like that that make me think it is how they think the 3g900 works.
