Why are they treating Rita Ora like a superstar?

I was completely unaware that so many people have such an issue with her. She seems harmless to me. Decent voice, some catchy songs, seems likeable enough as a person from what I've seen of her. There are far worse and less talented people I would rather waste my time on disliking so much than Rita Ora.

Nope. RIP was written for Rihanna by several people before being tossed her way, she supposedly co-wrote 3 tracks of her debut (along with a huge team). I always find it hilarious how it takes so many people to write a piss-poor, generic, cliche pop track

Heard her latest song in a shop today and if I hadn't known already it was Rita Ora singing it, I would have had NO clue. There is just no identity or even a hint of the most basic personality to her at all.

I can tell right away when it's a Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Britney Spears, etc song playing.

I agree completely, I think she seems like a very nice and down to earth woman and her music has been consistently good so far. Really don't get the hate campaign against her.

My first visit to this thread in a few days. First of all I didn't call Rita Ora trash because of her ethnic background.
It was her One show appearance and other shows that don't do her any favours.
I realise Pristina isn't next door to Estonia, but for someone to say that they have never heard of the latter, what planet are they on.
When Stephen Mangan was going on about famous people he worked with and big film projects, she looked like she would have jumped him.
He did mention his son a few times in conversation, as if to suggest back off woman.

I find her music non descript to be honest, I am another who wonders what her mentor sees in her ?

I have just defended my statement above, she came across on the One Show as loud, brash and clingy with no knowledge of anything of a remotely educational subject.
I was making the point that if I was from originally Eastern Europe I would be at least aware of the surrounding countries.
Especially as she went back to do a video in Pristina.
What has that got to do with racism ?

“ I am suffering her on The One Show at the moment, she was born in Pristina formally in Yugoslavia. Moved to the UK when she was one. Not that interested in her facts, but it adds to my disliking her, empty headed lack of knowledge.”

You are aware that the distance from London to Pristina is shorter than Pristina - Tallinn

You are also aware that Estonia was part of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia was an independent non-aligned country.

In the age of internet it's so easy to say - empty headed lack of knowledge.- isn't it`?

Nothing - just as I said in my explanation of your comment (in your absence) to the poster who claimed you were being racist.

I'm not keen on her because she's not really my scene music wise and I find her overexposed, and pretty annoying. However I combat this by not listening to her.

I don't think she's the second coming or anything, just another currently hot pop singer. In a year or two it'll be someone else.

She seems like a genuinely sweet girl, very tactile. She may not be the most articulate or intelligent but she seems lovely.

I just can't get over Rita Ora being on The One Show. She couldn't be further from the sort of music their target audience probably likes and she certainly won't be the type of person they would warm to, since the One Show seems to be aimed at middle class English people who would likely listen to Radio 2 or Radio 4.

Apologies if I am stereotyping, but I couldn't think of a more pointless platform for Rita Ora. Her PR team have truly reached ridiculous levels of desperation now.

When she was on the X Factor she was awful. One album and she acted like she was some great pop icon...then again whoever gave her the job was more to blame than she was.

It's her seemingly overnight take over of the music world I can't get my head around. Good PR team or not, I can't remember someone so mediocre coming out of nowhere and ascending to the very top so fast.

I'm watching a clip of her appearance there out of curisoity and I couldn't agree more.

Try as I might, I continue to be totally unable to see the appeal and I find her really irritating as a person.

I am dreading the arrival of her new album. She is overexposed as it is, there will be no escape!

So here are some facts:

She's had 1 album so far, of which it sold 3 million in the UK alone.

That same album had 2 number 1 UK singles.

I will never let you hasn't be released in the UK or USA charts yet (don't understand why the OP assumed that it flopped in the US without even checking the release date)

Your comparisons to her and Rihanna, Beyoncé etc are berzerk. They have had more albums, singles, tours and overall exposure. Plus, in comparison, Rihanna's first album 'Music Of The Sun' had ZERO UK or US number 1 singles. Pon De Replay was #2 which means, based on your own theory RITA's deut was more successful then Rihanna's.

Why wouldn't her label give her exposure? That's what they are employed to do and Rita is very marketable.

I think it's insane that you are actually saying "she has no fans", "she doesn't have her own sound", "nobody likes her". It just sounds childish and stupid. clearly she does have a market. Otherwise, she wouldn't have sold any records.

You also said Rihanna was more respectable because she worked her way up! Are you serious? Rihanna is as manufactured as they come! Her whole career has been down to great marketing and PR! If you don't see that, then you are clearly an idiot.

Also, I'm not a massive fan of her, but I'm not an idiot and can see that she is popular and very marketable plus her music is good! RIP was one of the biggest selling songs on that same year! It's still a great track.”

Lies!!

Rihanna's first album Music Of The Sun (Which is classed as the 'flop' of her back catalouge) still managed to sell 500,000 in the U.S alone. Rita has barely scrapped 300K copies sold of her debut in the UK.

Also bizarre you would call Rihanna manufactured when Rita is the Pound stretcher version of Rihanna. So since Rita is lifting facets of Rihanna's image, an image which you say is manufactured then what the heck does that make Rita Bora????

is she gonna announce her second album soon? she seems to have really missed a trick not releasing it while x factor was on.

Selling 300k in the UK is equivalent to selling almost two million in the US so it's a rather poor analogy.

'SuperStar' Rita Ora's obsession with Rihanna continues - As per The Sun newspaper, Rita is blaming Rihanna for why Roc Nation are acting like Rita doesn't exist. 'Sources close to Rita' (So basically Rita herself) say that top songwriters present songs to Rihanna first before Rita gets a look in. Well, Rihanna is at the top of the pecking order in the industry, when it comes to songwriters wanting their songs recorded - She has sold 100 million singles after all. You only need look at the countless songs Rihanna turned down that went on to be hits for other people, including Rita's first number one song.

If Rita wasn't so busy being jealous of another woman's success, she would realise that the moment she cheated on Calvin Harris was the moment she sabotaged her career. Calvin is signed to Roc nation, he is a big cash cow for them. If she wasn't such a simpleton, she would have done right by Calvin. Then she would have likely had another UK number one album under her belt. Yet another reason why Rita will always be in the shadow of truly successful female singers. She's an amateur.

This was an old thread, I really hope that people see that Rita Ora is nice person! I think her stints on The Voice and The X Factor have really shown that. Plus she is very talented with a stellar voice
