iPhone 4 charger cable needed .. is it worth buying Apple brand ?

Our grandson stood in the cable of my wife's phone and bent the connector, so she needs a new cable.

I see it is about £8 for the genuine Apple cable, but generic types can be lower than £2, with delivery.

Now I know there have been stories of cheap chargers causing problems, but surely it would be OK with a cheap cable ... after all, there is no transformer involved

Personally YES.

I don't have an iphone but my girlfriend does, we have ordered allsorts of cables for it and most charge very slow or break after a week.

We bought a genuine and it's lasted months! MUCH MUCH better quality.

get ours from the pound shop. seem fine for my sons ipod. charge just as quickly as original cable.

As you mention, I would be wary of getting cheap chargers.

I bought one of these, not the cheapest option but very good quality and allow full speed charging of up to 4 device. I've tested with 2 x Nexus 4, a ipod Gen4 and a iPad3 and all charged full speed no problem. Didn't come with any cables though.

I have a similar product to that, the 40w anker. Work's a dream. Never going back to using actual chargers again!

I'm sure it will be fine, I bought a cable from poundland once to use as a second charger cable in my laptop bag.

Most of the time it worked fine, but occasionally the iphone would complain about the cable not being a genuine accessory and that charging was not supported. This is with the iphone 4 cable.

Even the genuine iphone cable feels a little flimsy, the best one i have had is one that came with a car charger (it was a branded kensington charger - official made for iphone/ipod marking), the cable and connector were more thicker and well built.

Never had a problem with the genuine apple charge cable or the car one I talked about above, so it's a case of you pays your money you take your choice.
