It helps when your mother is Eve Pollard to stretch a minute amount of talent a long way.

Claudia for SCD yay!”

I agree. She's much better suited to talking to the celebs/dancers than Tess ever was who seemed to have no spontaneity and was a bit robotic imo. Claudia seems warmer and I love her random observations and comments

I think Tess did well presenting the show and it worked better when Bruce wasn't there.

Rob Brydon is probably the safest choice for them to be honest. He's probably the most "Bruce like" they could get in regards to a replacement...with him they don't even need to change the scripts. Much less of a ratings risk.

he is very professional in all he does!... a great compare.......Come on Graham!.... get some energy boosters and get to it!......

Oh no!... horror upon horrors that he should get the job!.....

Judging by the comments generally, Bruce also ensured that many switched off. So honours would be likely to be even there I would have thought.

Shallow or what - let's disregard how good she was, disregard the partnership, disregard her progress from day 1, let's dismiss her because of who she is married to.

Says much.

Did they? I can't say I noticed. Probably too busy taking notice of the antics of the judges and contestants.

Ah, that probably explains why I don't remember much about those shows, comparatively dull. (IMHO)

A change of presenters is always a good time to re-evaluate just how much you want to watch a show.

The Gadget show dropped Suzi Perry, Jon Bentley, and Ortis Deley and changed the format of the show at the same time. I decided that was time for a break.

They brought in Rachel Riley and changed the format back, so I started watching again to see whether it was back to what it was.

I haven't bothered watching the latest series either.

Are they serious? Apparently they are, if the papers are to be believed, although it does come out a bit like a typical Bank Holiday slow news day report, with phrases such as 'believed to be' and 'final contract negotiations', it called all come unstuck or just be a blind to keep us interested or off the track of what is going on.

We will wait and see.

All this thread proves is that no one is universally popular. I know people who didn't time in because of Bruce so if they choose cleverly the ratings might go up!

To be frank, your nerves don't matter

Bruce brought in the crowds. Not sure a new audience taking to very irritating Winkleman

The ratings (and general viewer response) say otherwise.

I'd personally rather see Claudia than any 'big' show is name they could get. I really enjoyed seeing more of her last year. I personally think she's bloody brilliant.

The last few years I found Bruce incredibly annoying and recorded the show instead of watching live so as to fast forward through his extremely unfunny stuttering.

I would prefer a Claudia/Graham combo

It took a long while for the BBC to realise that whenever Bruce was on holiday or took some "senility leave," or whatever you want to call it, Tess and Claudia coped admirably and his absence had no effect on the ratings (no wonder he hurried back each time).

It's a ballroom dance show, not "Sunday Night at the London Palladium."
It looks like the BBC will actually be saving some of our cash, (for once).

But would Norton be prepared to be No.2 to a woman as main presenter?

I think Tess Daly and Claudia Winkelmann has worked well in the past and will in the future on a regular basis. I find the thought of Barrowman, Du Beke, Brydon etc as presenter terrible and it would put me right off the programme.

I'm sure he meant Norton as the main host and Claudia taking Tess's spot

No question of that arising as he has stated that he is not interested.

Why should he be upset at being number two to a woman. I hope you mean in terms of his fame compared to Tess and Claudia rather than his gender.

What would Graham Norton's hypothetical thoughts on being No 2 to a woman actually have to do with lundavra?

Doesn't matter what you or anyone else would prefer. The BBC will decide and nothing anyone says will change their minds on who they offer a contract to.

Whoever it is will not be universally liked especially by many men who seem to think their masculinity is threatened at the thought of two women fronting a TV show instead of butch (hardly a description of Fforsyth) man with a woman taking the lesser role. News flash - it's 2014 and women have equal rights with men. It's no longer a male dominated world and if that upsets some of the men - tough.

Tess and Claudia actually increased viewers when Fforsyth was off.

And it isn't as if World War 3 will break out if it is two women - it's only a TV show.

Tess and Claudia's presence increased viewers?

Or simply Bruce's absence?

As for two women fronting a show, hasn't ITV already got a show fronted by three or four (loose) women?

Besides, aren't the contestants supposed to be .... the stars of our show?

Loose Women doesn't count as it's not primetime.

Hasn't it been all but confirmed that it's going to be Claudia and Tess?

They worked well together last year and the show ran very smoothly when they presented it so the BBC appear to be sticking with what works.
