Streaming BT Sport
We switched to BT solely so we could watch Moto GP on BT Sport.
After a saga that left us with no usable internet connection for nearly 3 weeks, we are finally able to use iPlayer and decided to try and stream BT Sport to watch Sunday's race. Apart from the irritation of the screen freezing, going black at critical points, or watching a grey circle rotate for a while now and then, the picture was absolutely diabolical. It was so lacking in clarity that most of the time we could only identify one rider, because he has fluorescent yellow bits on his leathers. The others we had to guess at, from a vague impression of the colour of the fairing on the bikes. There was also a sort of shadow to the image that made it look as if each bike had another bike a feet behind him. Half the time we couldn't tell if they were about the get overtaken or not. It's just unwatchable. Is this just a MotoGP issue or is BT Sport generally a bit rubbish? The tv and laptop are both fine, iPlayer etc is fine in terms of the clarity of the image (although it does freeze a fair bit). Anyone know if it would improve if we switched to Infinity? If there's no hope of it improving, we'd like to cancel the contract with BT and go back to our previous ISP, although that would probably involve a huge battle. We've complained twice now to BT and haven't even had an acknowledgment, so I fear the next step will be Ofcom. |

I don't have any issues when watching anything on iPlayer. The picture's fine and it doesn't start buffering when watching it.

Have a go at the iPlayer diagnostics page
http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/diagnostics That will test your broadband link and tell you if there are any issues with streaming. If that shows you have a particularly poor connection it could go some way to explaining the poor quality and buffering issues. Obviously it only really applies to BBC iPlayer and not BT Sport but anything that screws up streaming iPlayer will have an effect on other streaming services to a greater or lesser degree. |

Best option is to get BT Sport on the Sky platform (no need for a Sky subscription) for people with relatively slow broadband.
