Just a slight correction to the talkSPORT details I posted yesterday - with the Brazil v Chile game going to extra-time and penalties, Mark Saggers took the reigns from Adrian Durham at 8pm rather than the previously advertised time.
I managed to spot a very brief shot of Jim Proudfoot and Stan Collymore at one of the World Cup stadiums in ITV's montage about the media reaction to Luis Suarez's biting incident and subsequent suspension in the build-up to their coverage of Colombia v Uruguay last night.
On the subject of Jim Proudfoot, it was said prior to the World Cup that he'd be commentating on 16 games from the tournament for talkSPORT. Having totted up the numbers so far, he and Stan commentated on eight games during the group stage and they'll do two matches from the second round (Colombia v Uruguay yesterday and Argentina v Switzerland on Tuesday). Therefore as we know Gary Taphouse will be doing the third place play-off, I make it that he'll commentate on two quarter-finals, both semi-finals and the final. That adds up to 15 games in total, I suspect the reason why he's doing one less than previously stated is that there may have been plans for him to be in Recife for tonight's fixture that is now Costa Rica v Greece - which Taphouse is doing instead - had England won Group D. That may also help to explain Taphouse's pre-tournament tweet that he'd be doing "around 15" matches.
