Is it possible to get IOS7 onto an IPad 1?

It really bugs me that I can't update many of the apps I have on my ancient Ipad because my IOS system is below a certain level.

Can't remember off hand what my version is but I was wondering if it was possible to get IOS 7 and beyond onto an IPad1.

If not, what's the chances of lodging a not fit for purpose claim against Apple?

Very little hope there! Apple support ALL older hardware with new software for 4-5 years - which is already about twice as long as anyone else!

Doubtful unless you jailbreak it. I'm curious as to why you are asking for ios7 now when the iPad 1 hasn't been supported since ios5.

It's still fit for the purpose that existed at the time you bought it. Technology moves on continually you might have some luck if it didn't work at all but in your case there will be no chance. I have a TV that doesn't have smart functions but there is no way I could claim it was unfit even though the newer model now has that facility.

Don't worry, I've been racked off not being able to update apps for a very long time now so it isn't something that's just come to my attention.

I'm at the point where I need to decide to bite the bullet and buy a newer version. I'm currently looking at a couple of 4th Gen Ipads which are going for around £250 and should last me a while.

Thanks for all your answers.

The Air is great. I got one myself a few weeks ago. It should see us through the next couple of years at least!
