It's all about data. A shed load of data (and, no, Orange that doesn't mean 1GB!).
It's therefore great to offer unlimited calls and texts, as it costs very little but sounds great, and then you can offer loads of different tariffs for data, which is where the money is.
Even Three is now realising it needs to start charging more for data, hence the changes to its handset tariffs (some of which now offer unlimited calls and texts, surprise surprise). Inevitably in the future, it will make the same adjustments to its SIM-only contracts. As a Three user, I'd obviously love it if they don't, but from a business point of view, they have to.”
I agree with you, a couple of years back I may not have. I suppose I use about 150 mins of voice a month and that have stayed constant in the last couple of years. text wise, I was never a big texter, preferring to chat more than text. Data for me have grown, not in a large amount, but i certainly need about 500MB, while maybe a couple of years ago, I be lucky to use 10MB.
I think able to get news, my emails and even dare I say it have a look on facebook when I am not at home is useful, and i also listen to a bit of music using tune in.
the only messenger type app I got on my phone is facebook messenger, ok I know Google Hangout is on it, but I have never used it. I f people want to message me instead of calling , I still prefer them to use text.
