Not everyone got anywhere better to go to for a small price. We got a lovely cafe opposite our McDonalds, which while i have not been in for a while used to make fantastic burgers and i think at the time It was about £5 for burger and chips, i expect it is a bit more now. Not as cheap as spoons, but it was better quality.
So I can eat higher quality food if the need comes, but I can also eat lower quality. In fact I love when out in another town finding somewhere that does a nice sausage sandwich, with nice crusty bread. I don't mind paying for better quality, but i also don't mind stuff from spoons. I have just had this evening for tea some homer made air fried chips and a nice Sainsburys beef and onion slice. I enjoyed that. i do not like all inclusive either to be honest, in fact I would prefer self catering, then I can decide to cook in or eat out, but not because of quality of food, but because I am a fussy eater , You don't go to McDonalds, you stick to local cafes and http://www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk/ who for some reason you keep referring to as 'Spoons', you don't travel and yet you crop up on all sorts of threads spouting utter nonsense about food you have no real experience of. Go away...on holiday chap, it would do you the world of good. |

Go on holiday abroad and I look forward to your trip report.

Go away...on holiday chap, it would do you the world of good. I stick to local cafes mainly because i like to support local if i can, which is why I don't normally go to well known coffee bars, like Neros or Costa. I have no reason to go into MD, as I have said before , I only eat out when I am with someone in town and i don't think any of them got any interest in MD. I don't really know why I started calling weatherspoon, spoons, I think it is because a mate of mine started it and it just caught on and it is with this mate that I go there and only with this person. i don't really make a habit of it. I have not been in any local cafes for a while either, it is just normally coffee these days if I meet someone in town or we may pop into a local micro pub for a pint. I know how to cook, I was trained as a pastry chef, worked in local hotel and bakeries for years. it was my choice to get out of the trade. you don't just learn how to make pastry by the way. As for going on Holiday, plenty of places in this country to see which I have not seen and got little interest in going to another country as I said i am a fussy eater. |

How much is their veggie burger and chips? It is the same price as the beef burger in Weatherspoons.

Has the quality of food in Weatherspoons got better of late then? I have eaten there a couple of times in the past and the quality was mediocre at best. I guess at least it is cheap. None of the food is made fresh on site, its all brought in from a factory. I'd prefer to go to a place where the food is made on site by someone who can properly cook.
Frankies & Bennies is another place where the food really isn't good. And its not even cheap there. |

Just had a look at the menu outside the local Frankie and Bannys and could not believe the prices, over £11 for Cheeseburger & Chips. I thought there must be at least a free drink with it or summit but no. Seems crazy to be asking so much especially as there are so many much cheaper places to eat nearby.

Slap even the lowest quality ground beef in a brioche bun, leave the skin on the chips and it seems you can charge whatever you want, especially in London. People queue outside in lines to pay £10+ for a burger!

Depends really, how much is that at McDonalds? Factor in the added costs and the service and it's probably not too bad a price.
