Denon RCD-M33
I have a Denon RCD-M33 which I run all sorts of things through including a Tivo Cable TV box, an Internet Radio, DVD recorder, Turntable etc. I'm about to upgrade my vinyl turntable but the question is do I need one with a "Pre-Amp". My present turntable has a pre-amp but I shouldn't think either the Tivo or DVD recorder has a pre-amp. Simply I don't know.
The Denon RCD-M33 has two inputs one marked "Tape In (analog Input)" and the other has "Aux In (analog input)". Through a switch I run everything through the Denon via the "Aux In" jacks and regardless what goes in it all comes out fine the other end.

Only turntables need preamps.
You need a turntable with a preamp, or an external preamp, Aux doesn't have one (and wouldn't be any use as Aux if it did). Only an input specifically labelled 'Phono or Turntable' is going to have one, and not always then on anything remotely modern.
