TV question LG LN575V(about 5.1 sound etc)
Ok so i bought this tv at the start of the year and i thought ill make sure its got optical and ARC just so that i can connect AV equipment at a later date, but just recently i learnt that some tv's dont put out 5.1 sound through HDMI/optical, my question is, is there anyway of knowing/finding out if my tv is capable of doing this? i wouldnt want to get a nice receiver and 5.1 speakers to find that its only sending sound to 2 speakers or something.
But then i thought if you have an AV receiver it will be that thats processing the 5.1 sound NOT the tv? confused ![]() Thanks |

So it completely irrelevant whether the TV outputs 5.1, stereo, mono or has zero sound output at all. As you may have guessed I have a "proper" AV receiver so have no external devices plugged into the telly so can only go on the manual and the audio settings options it has in the menu system. |

Hi mate, yes I seem to remember you from another thread, I knew there was someone who had the exact same tv as me! Anyhow, you said your getting 5.1 DD so that's a good enough answer for me.
On a side note did you ever notice that after 4 hours you'd get a random message pop up on the screen saying something about standby and the tv will turn off(it flashes on and off quickly if your looking away)? My misses said the other day when I got home "there's a weird message on the tv" and I thought huh? Whats that then, it happened again tonight so I googled it and there a setting in the time option where you can turn it off. Must be set at 4hrs default. Did you notice that? Still love the tv though, brilliant bang for your buck! |

Not seen any such message. Trying to think if it has a power off timer you might have set accidentally (bit far from it at the minute to see the screen

I'm not near mine either but if you press settings on the remote, go down to the little clock/time icon then you'll see the setting I'm on about, mine was on 4 hrs, as you said maybe it was toggled on accidently, was glad it was just a setting and not a fault with it.
Thanks for answering my initial question by the way

It only happens if you haven't used the remote for 4 hrs(handy if you fall asleep as my Mrs often does).
