A bit of a stupid thread, this. I'm a Scot, and even I have to say it's a nonsense to say England will be looking for excuses. There simply isn't an expectation from England fans and the English media that their side will do anything of note. That's been the case for the last few tournaments.

That's not an excuse though is it? It'd be an excuse if people were saying England will win, then we lose and they blame it on the weather, for example.

If nobody expects much and England don't deliver much, that's just a good prediction.
