...and there was indeed a permanent deletion in this sad story:

Thanks to fossil DNA, this ‘island murderer’ is finally getting its day in court

Great how fossils stuck in a draw for decades can now be reconstructed in light of more recent finds of related species.

There are still specimens in museums that have not been even looked at or unwrapped for a century or so.

Money is so very tight in palaeontology that there will be untold wonders just waiting under a layer of dust on a shelf somewhere in every major institution.

It's an interesting thought.

Ancient boneheads, the secrets of our mammalian smile and the rather horrifying size of a fully adult Barosaurus has just become apparent.

At 50 metres long with a 17 metre neck.

Just a nice rex portrait and some Velociraptor illustrations by the same artist.

Hollywood has missed it's chance for realistic dinosaurs now.

Facial soft tissue, muscles and whether the teeth were exposed in gorgonopsids, dinosaurs, sabre-toothed cats and other prehistoric animals.

A full adult Barosaurus lentus really was a brute at around 50 metres long with a 17 metre neck and weighing more than the average Blue whale.

I suspect that the fabled and long lost remains of Amphicoelias fragillimus may well just turn out to have been a fully mature Barosaurus.

This is one of the most realistic depictions of Velociraptor that I have ever seen.

We await the special edition of Jurassic Park with re-animated dinosaurs.
