I know people do read this thread even though no one replies much so I just wanted to get the festive cheer out of the way (love the feathers on this rexy).

Here's a glass of fizz, G and T whatever you'd like Keyser.

Most of the time I don't understand what you're talking about but I'm always interested.

Thanks, I often feel as if I am just talking to myself.

I read about it here too:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2...bought-market/

The seller thought it was some sort of plant. I wouldn't have realised it was a dinosaur feathered tail either

I think that is totally fascinating because not only does it show the structure of the feathers but the colours were also revealed.

I hope that more, similar finds can be obtained since it's usually insects that are found in amber.

Just posted this in another thread.

It's been known about or suspected by some for over a century but took time to reach the mainstream - in art for example.

http://dinogoss.blogspot.co.uk/2016/...rs-in-art.html

The trouble is that very fossil sites in the world are able to preserve feathers.

It is now suspected that quills, proto-feathers or feathers were sported by all dinosaur groups.

I love this illustration of feathered ceratopsians (Pachyrhinosaurus perotorum) by the superb Mark Witton for example.

I do wonder how this will affect Hollywood's portrayal of dinosaurs because dinosaurs with fluffy feathers will probably be quite a bit less intimidating and menacing. Not only that, it appears that dinosaurs didn't so much roar as honk like geese:

But listen to the intimidating call of the Cassowary and imagine animals tens, hundreds or even thousands of times heavier (in the case of the largest sauropods).
