What is worse is what happens when you try to get "support", they have no phone numbers, just email that they do not respond to and a live chat link that disappears when there are major problems. If you do manage to get through to an assistant on live chat they will give you a load of BS and when you press them hard for a refund on the now tv box itself they say this is not within their power but they will get someone to email you.
How not to run a streaming service, how not to offer support, NowTV are setting new standards for just how badly to handle service problems.
BT Sport on Youview shows just how well streaming sports can be done (in my experience) but I believe they have gone to quite some lengths to deliver a service that actually works.”
BT Sport on Youview has been designed as a broadcast service using multicast- the multiplication of streams is achieved within the network. A huge investment has been made in multicast L2 switches at exchanges.
Now TV just uses Unicast streaming which relys on the central server farm capacity and it's connection into the net being sufficient. Now TVs arrangement is clearly not up to the job for mass viewing events like this and it shows.
