Hello Folks,
I got second hand 5c off ebay for an uber cheap price, this is because the previous owner has forgotten his icloud p/word. Will a complete erase and restore remove his account so I can add mine?? If not, can I do it?
Ta, Rob.

Hello Rob,

In a short? No. The idea with iOS 7 is that only the account registered to that iDevice can restore it to factory settings if they've disabled "Find my Phone" under location settings.

You say the original owner couldn't remember their iAccount password; are you able to contact them easily as I suggest they contact Apple to reset their details and ask Apple what they need to do to allow you to restore "as new."

Sounds a bit dubios to me, anyone selling an iPhone on eBay claiming they've forgotten the password would raise some caution with me.
For the vast majority of iOS users their iCloud ID and password will be the same as their Apple ID and password. Perhaps you could ask if they know what that is, if they don't know what it is then that should give you an idea where the phone may have come from before it ended up on eBay.

Fortunately I've not paid yet, he's telling me that he got it from a car boot and asking for my phone number. I'm walking away.

He literally means car boot. Out the boot of someone else's car.

Yeh this should raise alarm bells. Only the account password can unlock it and Apple won't reset it.

Yep sounds very dodgy.
