They're your bookmarked sites. Tap one to go to that site.

To enter a new address just tap the address field bar at the top of the screen and the keyboard will come up.

Safari is for browsing the Internet, Mail is for entering an email address!

Might be more useful than keep coming back here all the time...

Thanks, but i have only asked one question really, which would have only took one sentance to answer, rather than sending me a kink to a user guide, where I havent really a clue where I am looking.

As you can see lsst night I asked but jinda got nowhere.

That manual only tells me how to keep them when I want to delete them.

It has bookmsrked things without me asking, it has bookmsrked Discovery for Kids when I havent even been on thevsite

On de,eting bookmarks wherever I look it says click on the open book sign, and go down to edit, click on that, and the click on delete button for each.

I am clicking on the openbook sign but cant see an edit tab

What you need to do:

Tap the Bookmark icon.
On the one you want to delete: swipe right to left and "Delete" will appear.
Tap that and job done.

Perhaps a simple book such as iPad in easy steps might help you, otherwise there are tutorials on the Apple site.

I thought the idea of DS was to help out others.

I have looked at the online material snd followed the steps

It is not even giving the option to clear history.

Page 48 of the manual.

Shows an image of the Bookmarks tab open and "Edit" in the bottom right hand corner. You have to make sure that you have also tapped the open book icon in the Bookmarks tab as well.

To clear Safari's browsing history:

Tap Settings> scroll down to Safari> tap Clear History.

The bookmarks you are mentioning are on every iPad Apple release; the same sites were on mine, too, without me visiting them.

Followed that already 5 times, no edit icon appears, The icons on the Safari screen seem to be adding on there own, picking up websites I havent even been on, and us adding them as a Bookmark.

Do you have another iPhone or Apple computer at all?

I'm wondering if iCloud "tabs" is enabled....

Nope just my iPad, this has just happened the last few days, it is annoying as these icons are growing by the minute, doubled up this morning.

I opened a tab, about Mila Kunis, expecting Ashton Kutchers baby, and tbst become bookmarked eithout me asking.

If you have an iCloud account this is likely to be where your problem lies from what you are saying.

Whilst people on here are willing to help others you are expected to help yourself too. You need to read and understand how an iPad works from the manual, you can download this for free from Apple.

If none of this works for you then your best option is to take it into an Apple Store and let them check it out to see what is wrong with it.

Perhaps you are looking at History (which has a spectacles icon) rather than bookmarks (which has a book icon).

When I press the bookmark sign now, it now is shutting Safari down by itself. I thought you couldnt do any thing wrong on this mschines. Listening to the chappy in QVC for example, he says anything can be done by pressing home button

Things O havent even look at have become Bookmarks, CBBC Website being the latest.
