No, that has nothing to do with these bookmarks that are appearing in Safari.

I don't wish to come across as patronising but you the only you can bookmark pages is by doing it yourself....

I appreciate you are housebound; is there anyone you know who can help you so you can better demonstrate your problem and see how they can help you?

It is the icon sized boxes on the safari home page I want to get rid off, are they bookmarks to be honest I havent a clue, But what I do no is i have added nothing but a few apps.

On TV The presenters say there 95 year old Grandparent can work everything out, which makes me come over simple

Have you tried resetting it by holding the power and home buttons down together?

They are indeed bookmarks, yes.

In my case any bookmarks listed under Favourites appear on Safari whenever I open it up.

To delete said Bookmarks:

Tap the bookmarks icon.
Tap Favourites.
Swipe right to left.
Delete will appear.

And whenever you open Safari it'll just be the address bar at the top, with no icons in the space below.

Also, settings/general/keyboard, then switch all the switches in the box top right to the right "(on).

I told you: hold the power and home button down together for about 10 seconds.

It shouldn't be closing Safari; I know iOS7 has a fair few issues.

Press and hold the Power button and the Home button at the same time. Wait until the screen goes back and release them when the Apple logo reappears.

Then try again.

Finally got it sorted after a 2 hour live chat with Apple, I had screwed up the system without realising it.

ended up having to reset the whole system, through hidden menu etc
