The LG G3 - The best smart phone of 2014
I think everything is looking like this is going to be the best phone of 2014.
LG has sent out cards to the press for an event on May 27, which is likely to be the announcement. LG has confirmed that the G3 will have a 5.5 inch 2560 x 1440 display with a pixel density of 538 pixels per inch, so a 2K display. The screen looks amazing in this picture http://www.trustedreviews.com/opinio...phone-displays It looks like design and specs wise it is going to be a really nice device. I keep hearing rumours about an aluminium back, not sure if that's true. The G2 apparently had the best battery life of the main competition, so the G3 with it's more power efficient rumoured Snapdragon should be the same. Is anyone else really interested in the G3? I think for me the Samsung S5 was so similar to the S4 and I hate what they did with the menus and all the round buttons. Leaked pictures, it still has the volume and power keys on the back, but with a much better design http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/l...tallic-colours |

I wanted to make this thread haha.
But yes. I'm very hyped for the G3 launch. The G2 and G Pro 2 are already the best phones out there for those looking for a flagship phone/phablet and the G3 is only going to improve on that. I also think the G3 can boost LG's Q2 and Q3 shipments and I wouldn't be surprised to see them break 15m next quarter thanks to the G Pro 2 and G3. That along with the anticipated increase in revenue/operating profit means that LG can have an excellent 2014 in the Mobile devices business. The G3 is going to be the best spec phone come June and I don't see any other phone rivalling it until the end of Q3/Q4. |

Well I made this thread - beat you to it!
The invites for the event have a brushed metal printing on them indicating the device may indeed be real metal, we'll have to see I guess, the smart watch looks pretty nice too. I definitely think they'll be a few S5 owners that will wish they'd waited when the LG G3 comes out. Hopefully we can update this thread over the next 2 weeks as the device gets announced and launched. |

LG are a bit of an underdog, but I've had 3 LG Nexus phones and they've been amongst the most reliable phones I've ever owned. Hopefully the next Nexus (if there is one) will have similar hardware, as the only thing I'm not keen on the with the LG Gx series is the same thing that I'm not that impressed with one other devices - the bloatware.

Definetly getting one an upgrade from my 32gb G2.
Dissapointed in the M8,S5 and to certain extent the Z2 for various reasons. Im hoping it will be a similar price to the G2 only need the 16gb version this time will put a 32gb sd card in

The first smart watch to run Google's new Android Wear OS is coming out around the same time - the LG Smartwatch http://www.trustedreviews.com/news/l...s-and-features
£180 for the watch is what is rumoured, with a possibility of a package deal being offered. The watch will feature an 'always on' screen. |

Not too bothered about the smart watch and I'll only get it if it somehow enhances the experience in a revolutionary way + has a battery life of more than 10 minutes. The plan for LG always was to get the flagship out just after the S5 so there wasn't too much of a gap. The two pronged approach with the G Pro 2 before the S5 and the G3 after the S5 seems to be working in LG's favour. Quote:

I have a G2 and love it. Im certainly interested in the G3.
I had a Nexus 5 and thought it was a pile of junk. cheap build, terrible screen and Stock Android is dull and featureless, KitKat was also full of bugs. |

Sounds like a Friday afternoon job there, terrible screen?! Mine has been one of the most reliable phones I've owned, and as for stock android being dull, not sure I can see how really.
I understand preferring one device over another but to say something is terrible unless it is actually broken is a massive overreaction. |

He does say "I thought it was.." so unless you can mind read then he can't be factually wrong as it was his thoughts. You disagree and I'm sure a lot will.
Am I right or wrong? |

I really want to see a mobile OS that seamlessly integrates between Desktop and Mobile. Something similar to how Chrome works on Mobile and Desktop and how tabs sync automatically. It'd be great to have an OS like that. LG are working on their version of the connected OS with LG Homechat https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PplAymrv0hA But I want to see more. Similar to what Windows is trying to do with Mobile OS and Desktop OS but it's still too disjointed. I want to be able to stream a video on my PC and then takeover on my phone. Get text and call notifications on my PC and answer on my phone. Be able to throw things to my PC or TV from my phone. Be able to control my home entertainment appliances with my phone and get notifications from them. All natively of course and not through 500 different apps. Ok I'm going to stop dreaming now. |

Even if it does have the best specs - beating S5, Z2 and One (M8) - i'm simply not a fan of LG and seriously do NOT like having the buttons on the back of the phone. That is the main turn off for me and reason why i wouldn't buy the phone even if it gets 10/10 reviews from everyone.

Not a fan of Windows phone to be honest. It's too disjointed between the desktop OS and mobile OS. As well as that it's not very open or customisable.

It doesn't matter what time the washing machine finishes, it can wait a few hours. The vacuum cleaner being automated is great, but it really doesn't matter when it did it's job, and you've still got to empty it and clean the filters and stuff, it can't get up and down stairs, it constantly gets stuck and doesn't complete - I know I've had one of those and gone back to a normal vacuum. There are few applications for home automation, that's why it hasn't taken off despite it having been available and demonstrated by Orange in the early 2000s! I think we'll see more internet connected things for service and data, more smart meters, more integration with home entertainment, but a lot of the other applications are gimmicks. |

I wouldn't say the N5 was a 'piece of junk', but for me the G2 is a much better phone overall. Better screen, and superb battery life compared to the N5. Looking forward to the G3, but also keeping tabs on the Oneplus One, looks a killer phone for the price. |

The problem with that is there isn't the need to control most appliances and things by internet, and even if there is I won't bother sitting there texting my washing machine while I'm busy in a meeting because I know I'm going to be late.

What I mean is being able to control home entertainment stuff such as your TV, PC, Sound system and other devices. Similar to how on PS4 you can turn it on from your phone and download games to the PS4 directly via your phone. I'd really want to see something like that, another example being utorrent remote, where you can download something to your PC from your phone. Or say you can download it to your phone and no matter how big the file it's available on both your PC and phone once finished downloading. Basically i'd just like to see a bit more connectivity between Phone OS and Desktop OS where I can be watching a movie in VLC player on my phone and then throw it to my PC/resume exactly where I left off on my PC at the touch of a button through the PC native video app. (and vice versa). Or being able to get phone notifications on my PC/multiple devices etc... |

I was going to get the M8, but since this phone is being revealed earlier than I first though, I will hold of the M8 and see what this phone is like before I decide which to get. This certainly looks like a very nice phone, as is the M8.

When you have brands like LG, Samsung, Huawei, ZTE, Lenovo & Xiaomi all coming out with better phones at better prices then it's easy to see why HTC are failing. Especially when HTC haven't even made a mark in their home continent. |

I think it's a bit of a slap in the face to those who have purchased the S5 and literally 2 months later have a "Prime" edition of their phone get released. |
