Needs stereo speakers.
Does it though? I doubt you can tell stereo from tiny little phone spears just a few inches apart. Most of the time I'm using headphones, the speaker in a phone for me is mainly about calls on speakerphone.

I agree i had them on the M7 all it does make the ringtone louder.
No good whatsoever for watching youtube, videos etc the sound is far to thin and tinny.
Always used my headphones with the M7.

I agree. Besides I've compared the sound on my G Pro 2 to the HTC One M8 and there isn't much of a difference in quality or volume, only the direction the sound is travelling

I'm also keeping an eye out for the Oppo Find 7 which looks to have similar specs to the G3 (same 2k 5.5" display at least), and ought to be a very competitive price too. Downside is that it is running Oppo's custom ColorOS rom which is currently on based on 4.3 rather than 4.4.

Main drawback for me personally of these new flagships is that they are 5.5" which I think is just a bit too far into phablet territory. If they had some of these killer specs in a 5" or even slightly smaller then if be all over it I think.

I'm currently contemplating switching from my 5S to an Android but the most likely one if go for, the Xperia Z2, is 5.2" which again is just that little bit big I feel.

with bezels getting smaller the physical size actually is not that much different. The S5 has a 5.1" screen and is virtually the same size as N4 which is a 4.7" screen.

Thats my only fear about this phone but its only going from 5.2 to 5.5 and the bezels are supposed to be even smaller again.
If these companys carry on increasing screen size every year im going to end up with a mini something at some point lol.

The G2 dimensions are 138.5 * 70.9 * 8.9mm
The G3 dimensions (unofficial) 145 * 76 * 10.5mm

A difference of 6.5 * 5.1 * 1.6mm.

For comparison purposes, the M8 is 146.4 * 70.6 * 9.4mm

I do agree with you, this is about the limit I am prepared to go to as well. Of course this is a personal choice.

Flagship phones really are getting to be a size. But its clever in a way because it makes way for a future line of smaller flagship phones that will be just as powerful.

It's not about the power, the chips in these things are tiny and the ram is on the board. The size makes it useful as an internet browsing device as it's much more pleasant to use.

I agree about the browsing experience but there must be a more innovative and graceful way of doing things rather than just make the whole phone bigger. Also it's the bigger phones that I find fallen on the floor the most - they don't fit securely in a pocket any more.

I can't get worked up about this phone for two reasons.

- It's massive. The G2 was a great size. Taking the width up to 76mm is to much for a regular phone.
- it will have LG's ugly skin.

I am hoping Motorola will show LG (and Samsung, Sony & HTC) how to do it properly with the release of the X+1. I just hope we get it over here when it is released rather than having to wait months.

Its not even been announced yet and you're already criticising it.

Besides, if this is anything to go by then the dimensions will be smaller than the other flagships

Late just wait till release.

I have an S4 and I want a slightly bigger device, so I'm looking forward to it, looking forward to seeing the details of the press event next week.

Wow.

The G3 is becoming the worlds worst kept secret.

I knew about most of this back in March though haha.

Glad the speaker is going to be good, that's important to me.

So none of the major flagships of the year will carry the 805 processor incl. the upcoming LG G3. Everyone thought LG would be the first, but going by the leaked specs its the 801 same as HTC, Samsung and Sony.

I'm guessing the 'prime' version of the phones will have the 805 instead. Everyone criticised Sony for releasing 2 flagships per year but if the 'prime' rumours are true it looks like Samsung and HTC will be doing the same now as well.

Snapdragon 805 won't be ready to ship in any smartphone till late Q3. (August/September)

It's physically impossible for any phone to use it at the moment.

And also it's not the same as the processor used in the HTC One M8 or the Sony Xperia Z2. These phones use the older Snapdragon 801 8974AB model. The LG G3 uses the new Snapdragon 801 8974AC model. The 8974AB is the old version that even Xiaomi Mi3 was using back in September 2013. The 8974AC is clocked slightly faster in both CPU and GPU plus has eMMC 5.0 support.

These types of comments piss me off where people say it should have SD805 or that it's using the same processor as Sony or something. People should research this stuff before posting complete rubbish. It seems the entire internet thinks that the 801 is an old processor or something and that the 805 is ready to ship yesterday.

The smaller variants for the flagships are never as powerful. The new HTC one mini 2 for instance has 1GB of ram rather than 2GB and a snapdragon 400 rather than a snapdragon 801.

Interesting to note than the new larger screen phones are cannibalising the sales of tablets. The Samsung G5 screen is less than 2 inches smaller than a nexus 7.

Tablets may not be sold in few years . Large screen phones are here to stay.

I have never had a cover on my phones, never saw the need for one. It just bulks up the size of the phone. I just tend to be careful, and not had a problem. I have dropped my S3 a few times, but nothing has broken thank god. I have a couple of dings on it, but nothing major.

It always baffales me, why people go on about my phone being cheap and nasty, as it made of plastic, and their iphone is made of metal. Yet they will buy a cheap gel/plastic case of ebay and wrap it around their phone. So whats the point of a metal phone, when you wrap it in cheap a cheap gel/plastic case? I understand the need to protect your phone, but then dont make comparisons of the different build qualities.

In the second video, it does look like its built using plastic and not metal. Not long to wait now, so we will all soon find out.
