Unbelievable! Just nipped over to ebay and at present someones bid over £200 for 12 VHS tapes of BB5. Money for old rope! I suppose it shows how desperate some people are for the footage......

ps you've only got 40 minutes to get your bids in!

The bidding ended at £265.

And guess who the winning bidder was? None other than the person who paid more than £1000 for Michelle's and Stuart's signed Red Nose Day T-shirts just over a week ago!

I suppose "dedicated" is one adjective that could be applied to her, though I'm sure there must be others...

like more money than sense? The same bloke sold 18 tapes of live feed for £180 previously. He must be laughing his head off!

I wonder if our dedicated buyer knows of this eBay auction?

She'd be willing to pay a thousand or two, I'd guess...

True.

Michelle's boots are out of my financial league, I'm afraid.

Personally, I'm saving up for an Emma Greenwood fridge magnet — but even that's a bit on the expensive side...

I've just put my sun BB5 DVD up for auction on ebay. I'm hoping the lady with all the cash decides to put a bid in! I'll settle for £100, I'm not greedy!

Cheeks, perhaps you could sort of... copy Michelle's and Stuart's signatures onto the cover of your DVD? That might help...

Not that I'd suggest anything at all dishonest, mind! Perish the thought!

I would be interested to know what the other adjectives are.

Oh, go on, you can probably work some out for yourself. "Daft" would do for a start, though.

Dear heavens, and I thought I was being quite restrained!

I think that "daft" is quite a mild word to apply to someone who's spent over £1300 on BB trivia. However, different strokes...

'Modern art' is daft.. That crap fetches ridiculous amounts of money and none of it for charity as far as I'm aware..

This is peanuts in comparison/

Trashcan, the eBay sale that we're mostly discussing in this thread (the 12 video tapes) wasn't for charity. It was just a simple commercial transaction. Look at it here. It so happens that the same bidder did win the two auctions for Michelle's and Stuart's signed T-shirts at £560 and £510 respectively and that, yes, these were auctions for charity.

By the way, I suspect the videotape auction probably contravened eBay's rules too — breach of copyright.

my point exactly, this bloke has made nearly £450 from selling 30 video tapes. If I could get away with it I'd be in there like a shot!.....

Actually, I'm not enormously "down" on this person; if she has the money she can, of course, spend it as she sees fit.

However, I still think that spending £1350 on a couple of T-shirts and some video tapes is a ridiculous waste of money and, yes, "daft". Neither do I believe that charity was anywhere near the forefront of her thoughts: she wanted that BB trivia and felt it was worth the money — which, if anything, is a bit sad.

Dear me, this thread started off in quite a light-hearted, jokey way. I do hope it isn't going to get too serious. Heard the one about the Scotsman, the Englishman, the nun and the hippopotamus?

No?

Pity; neither have I.

Yes, I'm foolish enough to have done so.

And your point is?
