Is it arrogant to say something in defense of someone who you think is being unjustifiably criticised for their actions.
the bottom line is this person donated a lot of money to charity, for which he/she was criticised by certain members of this forum and if you think it is right to criticize and I am in the wrong for defending this person then so be it, but what a sad world we live in...”
Tinkle, since you've quoted my post, I'll reply to you, though I had intended to abandon this thread.
You emphasise the point that "this person donated a lot of money to charity". That's certainly true, and positive feedback for the two transactions has been posted on eBay by the seller, red.nose.day.
However, the buyer in question has been on eBay only since January. In that time she has bid on five items, all of them BB related.
Only two of them (the T-shirts) were charitable sales. She paid large sums for the T-shirts but she also paid a large sum (£265) for the video tapes that cheeks referred to at the start of this thread and, as I said in an earlier post, that was simply a straightforward commercial transaction.
That is why I said that I did not believe that "charity was anywhere near the forefront of her thoughts". It is my suspicion (and yes, merely my suspicion) that had the T-shirts
not been a charitable sale, the buyer would have been just as happy to pay large sums for them. You seem to be focussing only on the two charitable sales and disregarding the others that were simply commercial.
Frankly, I think that your heavy emphasis on the buyer's charitable instincts is a red herring. Judging by her bidding history, I feel that her main motive was to acquire BB-related items. Now of course I can't be sure of that; equally, though, there's no way that you can be sure that the buyer's motives were mainly charitable. However, I'd suggest that the evidence of her bidding history does not support your view.
