How to save recorded programmes to external hard disk
I have a Digital Stream DHR8205U PVR & I seem to remember when I bought it that the write up said you could save externally, but it is not mentioned in the instruction booklet. Please can someone give me step by step instructions on how to do it?

The Digitalstream is a little specific about what external devices it can copy files to.
The HDD MUST be 160Gb or more in size. It cannot copy files from the internal HDD to a HDD or other devices smaller than this. The DS will insist on formatting the HDD, so don't use one you have stuff already on you wish to keep. The DS will format the external drive using the Linux XFS filesystem. You wont be able to read the HDD on a Windows PC without using a Linux boot disc or a commercial programme that can read XFS drives (no free XFS drivers or programmes to read XFS drives on Windows that I can find).; HD programmes copied over will be encrypted. You can play them back only on the DS itself or another Digitalstream PVR. |
