I have always loathed Ben in both of his guises I cannot stand him. I so hope they don't lob him with johnny as that would entirely ruin the character. Ben Mitchell is a Grade A shit with no redeeming qualities.

I personally liked the first Ben Mitchell - total OPPOSITE to Phil Mitchell, and i liked the fact he liked ballet and musicals and Phil had to come to terms with him not been a "Right lad" like Jay.

I've every faith in DTC will get this right and also to take into account with DTC being on twitter I'm sure any feed back he will take into account.

Yeah I definitely didn't want Joshua back as Ben. I loathed his portrayal of Ben. I think DTC will cast the right actor.
Jack O'Connell would be fab but I doubt he'd do it
I'm pleased because I hated Joshua in this role and I hope DTC takes him down the path both him and Santer intended prior to Kirkwood's Ben appearing.

Just because Johnny and Ben are both gay and of similar ages, I doubt they'll get together. If anything, creepy Ben might develop an obsession with Johnny.
If they're taking him a new direction, showing that prison helped him, then I'm all for Ben returning. We'll no doubt get "personality transplant" comments, but since he was in prison for nearly two years he's bound to have changed a bit.
Not bothered about it being a recast, in fact I'd be more concerned if it wasn't, and anyway, recasts are something I've always accepted as part of the nature of soaps, I've never seen why people make such a fuss about them. Also, DTC's casting has been spot-on 95% of time so far so I have faith he'll find a good actor.

Great news, Ben is an extremely important character, I don't weather he is with Johnny or not.

It's a bit of a coincidence as Ronnie return was announced this time last year but both Ronnie and Ben are alike as they both hate their dads and both of them are psychos when they get pushed too far
Would he be released so soon? He has only served 2 years in prison. Is that all Heathers life was worth?
I really hope that whoever is recasted as Ben Mitchell is somebody who is perfectly fitted for the role because in my opinion Ben has always been let down by the actors who played him. I've just never fully got behind Ben and the attempts in the past to shove him down our throats by being practically the person responsible for everything big that happens because really tiresome near the end.
Someone in this thread has proposed an excellent idea where he is much more calm and receiving psychiatric help and to me that'd add a much more interesting side to Ben than if he came in instantly as a villain. Another thing that I always imagined happening after prison was him returning and declaring that being gay was "just a phase" for some reason but since he's not been away for too long that's maybe not the case.
Either way I really don't want to see Ben back for a while. Him going to jail was good because I think we all needed a break from him. I know I did :P
