I don't know how I feel about this. I'll wait for the casting announcement I guess.

I can't believe the majority appear to want this character back. One of the worst in EE's history...in my opinion.

Not really, Joey, Tyler, Anthony, were the worst, Ben is a better character!

Between them, I believe Joey, Antneh and Tyler could produce a rather nice sideboard and matching wardrobe.

A lovely sense of humour Dan, that's all I ask!

Exactly, I can see why Ben turned out the way he did after all he has been while growing up, and we watched it all happen to him throughout the years!

Ben is one of the most important characters in EE history. He was badly let down by the last recast so I'm hoping they fix it and finally make Ben the important person that he is.

Fabulous news to hear about Ben's return. It's right to introduce him back to the show because he still has Phil, Shirley, Lola, Lexi, Jay, Abi, etc in Albert Square. His return is going to cause lots of ramifications for lots of people especially Phil and Shirley. How will Ben react to Lexi? How will Ben react to Sharon being involved with Phil? How will Ben cope with Shirley? What will happen between Phil and Ben? Exciting times ahead!

I agree. We have seen His struggles in life and of course him going off the rails but to be away from his father and living in another country and then his mum dying was only ever going to take it's toll.

The Ben character was unpleasant, but that wouldnt bother me, you need them in soaps. But Joshua Pascoe was just a very weak actor..in my opinion. I agree with you about the others you mention, but unlike Ben, were they ever given a chance with a major storyline ?

I get that Ben has potential but you can't just go around recasting characters because the previous actor/actress is unavailable. If Steve McFadden died tomorrow, I highly doubt they would recast Phil Mitchell, so why should it be different for other characters?

I'd rather they create a new Mitchell character to cause trouble than give Ben a third face.

Phil Mitchell is too big of a character to recast.
Phil is iconic where as Ben isn't.

Another Ben recast? Its getting beyond the joke now realism isn't Eastenders strong point. That's the main reason nobody cares about Lucy getting killed off because the current actress playing her was cast for her looks and couldn't act for toffee.
Speaking for everyone again I see.

Potential for a good character.

Played by 2 dreadful actors so far.

Get the casting right & Phil's son could be great

You tell him BenBen

Scrabbler thinks he owns this place and needs slappin' daahn

What by simply pointing out I thought a comment was ridiculous?

At least he is somewhat amusing.
Thanks. I think.

Scrabbler is not 'attacking anyone on a personal level'.

He is just simply posting an observation that sexuality shouldn't really come into it when you like a particular soap character (not that it really matters if it does). There is plenty of male and female characters on EastEnders that I like. Does that mean I fancy them all?
This is exactly what I am getting at. I like some of tge female characters but I dont illustrate that I am gay when I compliment them. It seemed to me that the poster seemed to hate the fsct that if he said he liked a male postet then people may think he is gay.

The problem is that I never seen Dennis with a tough and twisted side, and the actor is age 25 in real life, and Ben has just turned 18!

I was only joking, because it's been said that they look alike.

I never rated Josh Pascoe acting, so sort of welcome a recast obviously played by the right actor, they've seem to done good with castings lately so have faith that they will get it right, although in my opinion I think it's too soon to bring him back but understand why because there is so much unexplored areas with him.

With Queen Shirley no doubt having ascended to the throne of Walford by autumn, if only as King Philiths consort, it was obvious to me that DTC would bring back the one character guranteed to give Shirley and Philith more screen time - Ben. The best thing about it for me is that Sharon wil hopefully get more scenes, being Phils partner, Shirley's rival and Ians best mate. Hopefully.

Why is Jay helping Ben? It seems strange. Jays MO at the moment is clearly getting Lola, so why would he help the guy who'll probably get in his way; unless Ben has promised to support Jay with Lola and Lexi. I know they're best friends, but surely Jay holds some grudge for the Heather cover up? I suppose it could just be because Jays a good person who wants to help an old friend.

Actually, I've just remembered, before the Ben/Jay reveal, Jay told Phil he was "certain" that Ben would return to Walford - what's Ben planning?

I wonder if they're planning on bringing Ben back a lot sooner than expected. I just don't see how they're going to stretch it out for months on end when over the course of two episodes we've had Phil find out that Ben has been released, that he's living in London, and we've seen Jay reassure Phil that Ben will definitely be back and then phoning Ben himself to ask him to come home. It just seems to be moving very quickly.

I'm not thrilled about Ben returning but I have to admit I'll be impressed if they just bring him back one episode; no midnight announcement on who they've cast for the role, no 'mysterious' sightings of him in a hoodie watching the Mitchells, no long drawn out return. Just Ben turning up in the next couple of weeks (maybe at Lucy's funeral) and getting the doof doof. It would be a genuine surprise.

I wondered this too. I read elsewhere they were casting for this role in March. I think there was even a thread about it on here. May have been a fake spoiler but it certainly turned out to be true that Ben was coming back and with a new head.

I also agree about the hoodie. Everyone thought that was Dean or Carl's brother. What are the chances it will turn out to be Ben?

The dates actually do fit.
