(Or can somebody link me to an existing one; I did search).

Sharon coming home from running a bar when everyone else is still awake and then getting herself a coffee.

Billy, Lola and Lexi living in a squat (is it still a squat?) with running water, electricity etc..

Johnny Carter doing a law degree yet always hanging around the pub.

Your turn...

The tardis that is the Butcher house. How many bedrooms is it supposed to have? Also thinking about practicalities, does it have more than one toilet I wonder?

BIB I know some squatters who have been in several buildings with running water, electricity and gas. In one instance they lived in an old shop and paid the gas bill. Another bunch of squatters paid the bills in a squatted University building.

Ah, I did wonder about this. It doesn't seem like a long-term sustainable plan for a family with social services at close-quarters, though.

All dwellings in EE are both massive and affordable.

King Philth the first sitting on his throne made of the skulls of his enemies drinking the tears of his victims.

Sharon coming home from work and making herself a coffee was unrealistic?

Sorry, I should have been more clear. It was the fact that she supposedly stayed to close up the bar and then came home and made a coffee. In reality she wouldn't have got home until the early hours of the morning, but everyone was still up and she was after a casual caffeine hit.

True. I remember something about the social worker asking to see the tenancy agreement to the flat. Surely they qualify for a council flat or house but then they wouldn't be on the square...

Didn't she mention having organised some kind of function in the bar? I don't think she described it as a regular evening.

I can't believe that the stall holders can afford to go into the cafe so frequently (at Ian's prices ) despite living in the Square

Indeed. In fact anyone who lives on the square buying coffee and breakfast so frequently from a cafe that's about 50 yards from their own front doors. I can understand them doing it occasionally but you'd think some of them would just bring a flask.

Arrgh and the laundrette. Although, I think they might have started to be more realistic about who does and doesn't have a washing machine...sometimes.

Someone should start a SOR thread for all the soaps.
I would love that.

I remember a while ago someone worked out that 80% of albert squares residents doing the jobs they do (even at London rates) would not in real life be able to afford to live in the houses they do, or even
in the square.

When Johnny the rubbish gangster lived in the square, didn't he buy Pat's house and have the loft converted into a bedroom?

But I agree about the Vic. Just count up the people living there: Danny and Linda, Shirley and Tina, Johnny and his sister, Danny's Dad and Lee briefly.

We saw Johnny going to university the other day, and mentioning that he had to get an essay done in an episode after that. In quite a few episodes we see him on his laptop, presumably studying, and there have been numerous mentions in the past about his studies.

I don't see how the writers can feasibly do any more to suggest he's at university! He's got to still be on the show, with other characters, in order to feature in storylines. I just assume that during the day, when he's not on screen, he's probably at uni.

Sorry, that wasn't just directed at you. I've seen a few people on here say that he never seems to study but I think they've done a pretty good job of integrating it onto the show.

As for the Vic not having enough rooms, it actually does. There are four bedrooms in the Vic. Mick and Linda have one, Shirley and Tina were sharing another before Tina moved out, and Nancy and Johnny have their own (though Johnny's presumably has two beds in as Lee shared with Johnny when he was back home, and that's where they offered Dean a place to sleep the other night.) Stan sleeps in the lounge; that was very clearly established when he first moved in and we've seen the camp bed a few times.

True and true, although four bedrooms is a lot for a pub that's not an inn.

I just want to say that I love Eastenders. I am not trying to put it down. I think the writers and set designers do a brilliant job with the realism, but it's just fun to pick out some of the poetic license they've had to use.

It's asking for trouble for an East End boozer to have doors leading from the bar to the bottom of the stairs that lead to the living accomodation.

The OP has said that they love EE. There's no harm in creating a thread like this in good nature.
