Britney's Iconic Song?
In my opinion, Britney's signature song is Toxic, but some will say ...Baby One More Time or Oops! I Did It Again. What do you think her signature song is?

Baby one more time
The video alone will forever make it an iconic hit. |

It is also often noted as one of her best songs. http://jersy.alwaysdata.net/cgi-bin/....pl?it=2&ia=27 |

If they did a 'Britney Spears' round on Pointless, I'm fairly sure Baby One More Time would score the most points. It's probably the most recognisable amongst the general public.

I get the feeling from this thread that young people today must use the word 'iconic' in a different way to its traditional definition as the only thing that she has ever done that approaches iconic status is the video (not the song) for Baby One More Time.

For me Britney is one of those lucky artist that has more than one signature song and they would be: ...Baby One More Time Toxic Oops!...I Did It Again And to a lesser extent: I'm Not a Girl Not Yet A Woman Womanizer |

I'm a longterm Britney fan who has listened to loads of Britney over the last few months, so I would say her most iconic songs would be:
Baby One More Time Oops I Did It Again I'm A Slave 4 U Toxic Womanizer Maybe Scream & Shout but that was a will.i.am song. It was a big hit at the time though. To a lesser extent: I'm Not A Girl Not Yet A Woman Till The World Ends Work Bitch Gimme More Work Bitch seems to be quite popular amongst most of my friends too and I hear it on TV a lot

I think some of the songs listed so far are ridiculous to say are iconic Britney...
not a girl not yet a woman?! work bitch?! Till the world ends?! No way! For various reasons IMO the most iconic Britney songs are; Baby one more time oops I did it again Stronger slave 4 u toxic every time gimme more womanizer Even maybe lucky, crazy, born to make you happy and piece of me to a lesser extent...Some unreleased songs are pretty iconic too: Mona Lisa for example Last edited by Mark-Anthony : 18-05-2014 at 23:49. In terms of the song itself, ...Baby One More Time.
In terms of the song and video, ...Baby One More Time, Oops I Did It Again, Toxic and I'm A Slave 4 U. |

Baby One More Time & Toxic are her big iconic signature tracks.
Oops I Did It Again & Slave 4 U are also iconic Britney, but at a less remembered extent. |

Either Toxic or Baby One More Time. Most of her early hits would be instantly recognisable to most people I think.
I don't think she's had an iconic song in years though. I know she's had a few hits (Piece of Me, Womanizer) but nothing as iconic as her stuff pre breakdown. |

I think the word Iconic is being thrown around too much here.
There is difference between what is iconic and what is well known and a signiture hit Unreleased songs can't be iconic. For something to be iconic, it would of needed to have been seen or heard on larger greater scale and talked about in many years Mona Lisa is popular with Britney fans who take an interest in unreleased songs but it isn't iconic, is it? |

) but not with the general public who don't know the songs exist. They are popular amongst fans but not iconic. For a song to be iconic it has to be known by everyone, even the general public and it has to be around for years.

Baby one more time is one of those rare pop moments that only comes along now and again.
I'd say Toxic is probably considered her best song by most but isn't nearly as 'iconic' as BOMT. Although I'd say overall Toxic is by far one of the most memorable songs/videos of the noughties. p.s I'm surprised to see Not a girl... mentioned,I always forget that one exists |

Gimme More is iconic for all the wrong reasons, the video, THAT performance at the VMA's, but sadly she's had no iconic moments since.. Britney was 'iconic' for her performances and dance routines and her amazing energy, now she's lost all that and all we are left with is the memories.
